My first day of Ramadan was amazing! I had the best beginning I've ever had ever since I moved to the US. The reason? The amazing work of our Indonesian and Malaysian brothers in our local mosque. The event was perfect! Not a single hitch. Not a single problem. Everything went according to plan, and there weren't fight over "Who's boss" like the case usually with most Arab organised events. If anything I'm so proud of these guys!

So I had some amazing variety of crazy dishes that I've never tried before in my life. But they were all great! My most favorite was their soup! It was similar to the Vietnamese noodle soup (Pho) but tastier! Seriously amazing! Something tells me this is not the last time I'm going to be trying it!

Spending the time between Maghreb and Isha at the mosque was a pleasant change for me. I had a great time. Praying and reading Quran, on the hope that god will accept and grant me some virtues, and have mercy and forgive some of my sins. God knows I have many of those.

Then came Isha time, and the mosque was filled with people, friends I haven't seen in years came and embraced me in a way I can't even believe. It made me feel wonderful. It made me feel among loved ones even though my family is so far away.

By the time I got home after Tarawee7, it was past 11PM, no time to do anything! So my plans to follow up on all the Ramadani series, are not going to materialize after all! I'd be very lucky if I managed to follow one of the series, maybe two! I think I'm liking Bab-El-Hara, Nimer Ibn El Odwan, Malek Farouq and finally Saqf el 3alam. Wow! That's a long list!

On my Quran progress, I am in Soret Al An3am, I hope this year to finish reading the Quran in Ramadan, hopefully more than once.

All in all, it was a wonderful beginning to an amazing month.

I just wish Arabs can be as organized and efficient as our indonesian/malaysian brothers!

I'm so glad to hear you had a such a wonderful experience, I'll be leaving for the masjid in about 5 min and I'm excited to feel ramadan!

"my plans to follow up on all the Ramadani series, are not going to materialize after all!"  I don't think you're missing too much!  By the way when the storm knocked down our arab sat. my mom discovered that she can watch bab el7ara on youtube!

    Glad your day went well!

I intended to do a lot of things this Ramadan too, but it seems that I'll barely have time to eat :| Anyway, you named two of the best shows that are being Aired in Ramadan, Bab il hara (Even though this season doesn't seem promising now that the Za3eem is dead and since the Ida3sharee died last season, ma dall '3air lattouf w 2um 3issam ya zalameh!!) And Nimer bin il 3odwan is definitely worth watching!

    Ramadan Kareem! :)
Samer, it is nice to hear that you are enjoying Ramadan, and that you are sincerely working towards Allah's love and grace through worship.. I am proud of you!
As for me, desipte the fact that I have the toughest school schedule this year, I am soooo enjoying Ramadan this year.. I love it!
During Ramadan, I always have my Iftar at the mosque with my friends and other people(I miss my best friend this year who moved to another State), read Quran, pray maghrib, esha, and taraweee7.. What in the world could be better or more satisfying than that? ;)))
It is true that I miss my parents and family back in Jordan (big times), and also miss all the social activities that come along with Ramadan, but the loving atmosphere at the mosque really compensates..
I LOVE RAMADAN AND I LOVE NWA MOSQUE ;)))

Do you mind if i ask you this question, i hope you don’t take in wrong way.  I am here not to judge you but i am curious to know something. My question is how can you have two hearts in one place? I mean that when i read the poster in above, reading Quran and praying isha, In other section of your blog , you posted pictures for you attending show for belly dancer and other stuff ( you agree with me that is against Islam and since you have kept them that you are proud of it) .

Do you feel there is conflict inside your self.Sometime i have get that feeling when i do something un-Islamic or against my culture.

May Allah bless our fasting and guide us to right way.
It's unrelated. Each time has it's own Adhan. Besides, I don't need to be a completely different person. I'm human, with all the conflicts and madness that a human personality has.
I sometimes lean towards religion, and other times I find myself elsewhere. But the general tendency is to find my self closer to god and religion
It's Ramadan, and I haven't broken my fast a single day in my life since I was 8. It's a special month for me, and a chance to wipe some of my sins (and as I said, I have many of them)
