Unacceptable, unsatisfactory and very offensive!

We all heard of our friend WhoSane's tragedy and the ordeal that his father has recently passed through. And is still passing through.

Couple of days ago, I decided to go visit Whosane's father at the hospital. And to my surprise two Doctors representing the Ministry of health internal auditing were there trying to take a statement from Whosane's father. They brought with them a print out of Whosane's post on the matter and started digging holes in the story. I was really outraged. Since these are the people who are responsible to find the facts, not be biased and pass judgment.

Here are my impressions on what was going on

Don't' get me wrong, I think it's a fantastic thing that an inquiry is underway regarding the matter. I applaud the efforts being spent in getting the facts and coming up with recommendations regarding the whole issue. That part, I admire, but I am concerned regarding the approach. Is this meant to find the facts? Or bury them? Who's going to make sure everyone is going to remain honest on this whole matter?

Who's going to make sure that lessons are learnt and assure the public that things like that will never happen again

So here are my impressions...

The reverse psychology part:

"We were harmed by what you wrote"

This is really a very sad statement to hear from officials representing the Ministry of health. If anything that post has exposed barely the surface of the incompetency and outrageous health violations that Prince Hamza hospital is currently suffering from.

"Your post is written in a Literature format, and not an official statement/Report"

What do you expect? An official chronological statement, written by a lawyer to make sure that everything is up to your standards!? Of course it's what Whosane felt and what the family felt. Creating a case out of it is probably the last thing on his mind

"People commenting were cursing us and praying to god to: Paralyze us, Break our arms ...etc"

Sorry, but you can't blame people for sympathizing with someone. This is how people felt. This is how they reacted. This is how people see the hospital from the outside. I think many people have lost their faith in the system of that hospital. Enough to warrant a decent investigation

"The post is biased towards the patient"

Excuse me, but who would his son who witnessed his father almost die before his very eyes be biased towards? Who's account is he reporting? Who's pain is he suffering? I am sure the answer to all of the above is not the hospital.

"Enemies of the Nation, are taking this against us, you are harming the whole country with what you have done"

I'm sorry but this is pure nonsense! The whole post is not intended to defame the amazing strides that the Jordanian medical industry has done over the years. It's there to keep people honest and make sure that the Jordanian medical practice remains that great. By following up on the issues and making sure that the wrong doesn't happen again

We need to be self critical, committed and have enough integrity to make sure that we reward the right, good and reform the wrong and the bad.

Then the intimidation techniques.

All the top leadership is reading this...

Everyone is keeping an eye on this

All of this prompted the poor old man, to try and defend his son by saying, "These are young men, and they got carried away"

Which "Mr Inspector/Auditor" responded to by saying:"That's wisdom. See, it wasn't the right thing to do"

And I thought to my self, You are here because this story made it to the news. Because this story had the eyes and ears of their majesty the King and the Queen. This whole story would have fallen on deaf ear had people responsible suffering from it had no means to get the message across

Which brings me to the title of this article. The attitude was unsatisfactory, and unacceptable. Blaming the victim or even insinuating it doesn't serve justice in any way. In fact it's the complete opposite of it. And that's why I find it offensive an inappropriate.

We need to keep bringing these matters to every one's attention. The only way to progress is achieved through transparency. No one is doing this with malicious intentions against the country or the government, but with good intentions to make sure that our institutions are second to none. Without exposing the mistakes, there can be no rewards. There can be no progress and there will never be any achievement.

This is clear intimidation. A typical position by the authorities trying to bury the facts. I will consult with Hussein's family and see if we can bring this dialogue to the press again. I just want to make sure that such acceleration will not harm their cause.

I am taking an organizational theory course this term and this is the best example of bureaucracy where members try to defend their status in the face of change and challenge..

And to them you can say: Who hates Jordan will hate it whether this happened or not, but who loves Jordan will love it more and do whatever he/she can to correct mistakes, and loving Jordan is not by saying so, it is by doing something to make i better..

HM king Abdullah said that the youth should lead the change, and that’s just one example of how youth can make some changes and make their voices heard, HM king Abdulla became a micro manager due to the incompetence of some officials, the white hair in his head is because f what he sees from them, and yet they come and say we hurt Jordan!

I said it and will say it again, the ministry of health should be eliminated and control should be transferred to the royal medical services; the army men are 1000000 times better than the those "health officials", the army medical services handle more patients than them and they do their jobs 100000000000000 times better..

if you don't want to be harmed, and don't want anybody to take anything against you, do your job, and do it right!! Nobody can say anything about people who do their job right, because there is nothing they can say about it...
Enough with all the nonsense talk, and do something!!

Thanks for being there Qwaider and for writing about this. I wasn't going to because I didn't want to irritate them, which might hinder the progress of the investigation.

I do admit that I was a bit intimidated with all this, although you all know I never intended to harm our country or its leadership, but unfortunately, some of our officials are experts in misinterpreting and altering the facts to serve their own purposes.

wow! it is interesting how they are turning the tables!! this is not the stone age where bad things happened to people and they kept it to themselves...im sure when who-sane wrote on his blog he was just letting his friends know about the family emergency that kept him away and if it got to be heard by the right people then it was an added bonus...we were all worried and concerned...he stated the facts as they occured...

his post was biased??!this is an absurd statment...it is actually so absurd that is actually very funny..

and wisdom...who-sane writting about the ordeal was wisdom itself..why should all this happen and be unheard..everything happens for a reason and maybe this happened so the hospital will be forced to clean up it's act so otehr will not suffer the same fate with a worse outcome...

well im glad that the outcome was good in this case..and the best thing is that abu who-sane is doing well now...and how sweet of you samer to vist abu who-sane...:)

SUPER! so lets declare martial laws in Jordan, disband the parliament, shutdown newspapers, impose a curfew, remove subsidies, ...

Have you heard of the guy who "Eja E Ka77elha, 3amaaha" or have you heard of the guy who took cyanide to kill his headache?

A more simpler solution is to have public hearings and have an independent, fair fact finding commission gather the facts and make recommendations. Opps, I forgot when it comes the regime, we are better off dreaming of a Jordanian on Mars than of a fair and independent fact finding commission.

one more thing, I bet if WhoSane's last name was one the Top 7'ara List his father would not have been treated in this disgraceful manner. this is more than just incompetence. This is a deep rooted system of discrimination that is taking hold in Jordan at all levels. This is getting out of hand. Before, it was limited to jobs and taxes, not it's life-threatening. and it's not east bank vs. west bank, this is about those who have power and those who don't and the preception by the nurses and the doctors of lack of consequences to their criminal conduct.

Observer, they are not stupid. they are people who never had to think or work hard to reach these sensative positions. they don't have the faculties to self-reflect or self-critique. no one dared to challenge them in the past, not the local press and not the local media. suddenly, those annoying critters called bloggers are opening channels directly to the royal court, bypassing the often cowardly or corrupt journalistic establishment. why do you think the king approves all of these radio talk shows that expose failures and incompetence in jordans's ineffective, corrupt bureaucracies. Because the formal channels have failed to communicate the problems facing average jordanians to KAII. remember what Bkhait said during the snow scandle when people got stranded for hours. he said don't bother the king with the trivial stuff. Imagine, jordanians getting strabded for hours in a potentially dangerous weather conditions and all Bkhait can think off is "don't bother the king." of course what he meant is "shut up and don't embarrass me before the king."

i think some royalties are keeping an eye on these blogs so it's better to speak up and be heard. i have a feeling this might be the only way left to be heard. if we leave it to the Bkhait and the ministry of health officials, well, you know the story. we will be told to shutup and be good, little, faceless, docile jordanian citizen.

they should thank hussein for drawing their attention to what goes on in that hspital instead of acting this way

i am 100% sure that when hussein wrote his post he was just venting to his friends and i am sure he had no intention of hurting anyon coz he and his family were th ones hurt

we all write about things that bother us,things that are weird ,things that shouldnt happen in a country like ours..we all vent and get things off our chests ..

enemies of the nation? wow..who are the enmies of the nation? are we talking here about a father who was left helpless,uncared for in hospital or about a terrorist attack?

and what with the literature thing? so now if we want to say anything we make sur it is written as an oficial complaint?..ya salam..

this all does not make sense to me..these people were embarressed by their superiors and they want to find a way out.blaming the victim instead of punishing those who are responsible of his pain?

hussein..dont worry..our leadership,they are smart and they know whats going on and why you wrote and what were your intentions..

so now, instead of writing him an apology letter to what he and his family went through and try to make it up for them, they treat them like enemies....?? what kind of a customer services do we ever expect from ppl there to learn...like in a million years they might start changing and learning...
but in my opinion, hussein should cosult a lawyer to cover his back... dunno if the law there would allow them to sue him for slandering their alleged professionalism....denya 3oja....

This is so annoying ! so who ever brings something to the public eye is an enemy of the state !! what perverted sick way to intimidate people, who are they to judge people's intentions ?! on contrary people who have vision and would like to see their country the best it could be are the patriots not them who are trying to cover up.

I think that someone should start a petition or a tag of some sort to show the number of people who want to see a just investigation.

What I find interesting is the statement "Everyone is keeping an eye on this"... I guess somebody should keep an eye on HEALTH ISSUES DHAAA its a bit important don't you think!?

This just shows they know that they SUCK! if you're doing your job you should be thankful that someone is keeping an eye on you... IF NOT then THIS!!!
