Death....

Death. A word that intimidates many people. It’s amazing to see the extent to which simply the idea of death freaks people out. Some people refuse to even think about it. They don’t want to hear about it. They live in denial, convincing themselves that their time will never come.

I think people should constantly be reminded of death so they don’t take life for granted. Acknowledging its existence makes them appreciate life and the small things that make living worth while.

People are always postponing things, putting them off for another day, another time. What if you never get the chance to do it another time? What if your time comes sooner than you expected? It’ll be too late and regret won’t do you a thing. Take time to appreciate life and all it has to offer. Appreciate beauty, your friends and family, and the blessings that God has given you.

Why don't you do the things you’ve always wanted to do, but kept putting off for later. Do them now. Why wait? What better time is there than now? See your old friends that you’ve been meaning to call up and see for so long. Tell the people you care about how much they mean to you. Take the time to tell your parents that you love them, and that you appreciate all that they’ve done for you. Pursue your dreams. Reach for your goals.

What are you waiting for?

The idea of death should motivate you, not scare you. If you were to die tomorrow, what would you want to tell the people you care about, your loved ones, and your friends? Have you done everything you want to do in your life? Would you have any regrets? I don’t mean to scare any of you. I just think of it as a reminder, many probably need it.

Always remember: Inna lillah wa inna elayhi raji3oon (We belong to God, and we shall return)
