It's unspeakable. It's outrages, it's shameful, it's appalling and disgusting. The way the Iraqi's were being treated in Queen Alia airport. I can't imagine how anyone, would be so inhuman in the way they deal with people coming from war torn country. Even worse, imposing the concentration camp ideology on poor families with women and children. It's despicable to say the least. And I as a Jordanian demand to find out why such a thing is still happening in this day and age. Who is behind it, and how are they going to be punished so that such a thing will never happen again.

+Last of the Iraqis
Alright, with that off my chest, now allow me to cast my raging emotions aside, and start talking rationally about the whole matter. Yes, the security forces might have mistreated many people. Iraqi's included. I myself can attest to my bad experience with the security forces as I enter my beloved country
But, lets put some well known facts on the table. How about we talk about the human rights violations in ALL (and I mean, ALL) airports in the world. Including the European airports, and the American ones. I was forced to miss my flight in Athens once due to the so called "security" check, when I was only in transit. True, I was late 34 hours (that's a day and 10 hours), eventually got through
In Heathrow, something similar happened to me, and I missed my flight due to it. And aside from few people giving me the dirty look and shouting at me couple of times. I wasn't ill treated
Also in Amsterdam, a colleague missed his flight and an important meeting. For similar reason. Mind you, he is white American!
A few months back, there were a bunch of Jordanian students who were tortured and assaulted sexually in Cairo airport.
I remember crossing to Syria (many years ago) and having our car almost dismantled from bumper to bumper or really no apparent reason
I remember also many years ago, an Iraqi policeman pulling my fathers finger (seriously, he was that tiny, that his hand could only wrap around my father's extra large fingers) He was pulling him trying to intimidate him to do something. In front of his whole family. While my father stood there and smiled. He could have kicked that guy but ... well he had a family to protect.
I remember sleeping for 2 days at the Saudi border while we were driving OUT to get to Jordan. Isn't subjecting women and children to these conditions as inhuman as it is to do so at the airport? Even worse, there were wild animals, extreme heat variation and sleazy Saudi men in the unforgiving Saudi desert!
I remember the stories of Palestinians being "thrown out" to the Libyan desert!
I remember the stories of hundreds of thousands (even millions) being slaughtered across borders in Europe, and Africa..
I'm not going to mention Israel, because ... I really don't want this article to be 90,000 pages long
And lets not forget the land of the brave. The harbor of freedom, justice, democracy and ...[fill in your favorite great value here]. I remember how just about every single Arab, Muslim or even dark skinned person used to be "Randomly selected" for extra security checks. Humiliation of veiled women, the endless wait. The extra "Registration" for citizens of "countries of concern" and the missed flights while we sat there, smiling at the little camera as the officer scans our thumbs.
I'm not saying I condone any of the above. I'm not saying that what ever happened in Queen Alia International Airport, happens EVERY SINGLE DAY everywhere around the world. And it happens more than we hope for.
I'm not going to say that what happened is acceptable. It is NOT! But this is a classic case of getting caught with your hand in the jar, while the other monkeys continue to roam freely, and even worse, take the higher grounds and throw peanuts at you.
Memories....
Allah Said " وَتِلْكَ الأيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ "
man there is a lot of people these days r living in the airports not necessarly palestinians or iraqis it is becomin a world wide scale thing:(
at the end
god be mercy on all those who suffers.
I not for once thought that Jordanians would ever do this
Its unbelievable. fullstop
mentioning israel...i remember, my husband, used to have an electronic hand print checked only to leave airport, while with me, since i am an arab, he would simply have to wait and wait and wait and keep his mouth shut while shabak (security officers) would question me about my bags and where and when...
and the list goes on...but have to say it is heart breaking that arabs treat each other like that..i am not blaming anyone, but it is so inhumane...as simple as that...
peace to all...
This is a great post!
It is one thing when The Other Side who considers you an enemy to stop you for an extra security check, but when 3arabs do this to each other, it is even more despicable.
Another example of too much power in the hands of the wrong people.
I am ashamed that such a thing could happen in my country...
Hopefully, someone with a conscience will intervene soon and stop this inhumane treatment.
