I stopped smoking 6 months ago, and since I'm planning a trip, a singly thing keeps me up at night. Going out anywhere, and seeing all the people smoking like there is no tomorrow.

You have to understand how hard it is for someone who quit to see all of that and continue in their attempt to live a better, longer, healthier life.

    cig

    Hat-tip: Shaden, Philip (El3atal)

I am fearing the moment when I land in QAIA, and be faced with a wall of blinding smoke. The smell, the disgust, the urge for one more draw and the nicotine rush. How am I going to cope with the impulse to pick up a cigarette, and light up. Like the rest of the world

I fear the moment when I go to any place, and see the satisfied orgasmic look on the face of a guy or a girl as they draw the smoke from their cigarette celebrating the end of a yummy plate at Fakhr-Eddin

I'm petrified that I will get in a taxicab, and get to marinate in the smoke laden closed car. How am I going to complain? Would I be able to complain!?

I'm helplessly fearful of the moment I find myself in a government office, the municipality, a ministry or attempt to renew my driving license and again have to cross into the grey clouds of cancer!

I've quit, but will visiting home cause all my my restraint and efforts to evaporate because wherever I go there will be people puffing -with joy- poison. Straight in my face!

I hope people start to understand how they're harming just about everyone around them. Including people who stopped, and who are trying everything they can to stay away from this addiction!

I hope this attempt will not fall on deaf ears. I hope the next generation, will not have to suffer of this plague. I hope no more people die because of the the little death sticks ...

    Memories....

I hope you have a strong will to resist the temptation ;)
so it looks like you are going to Jordan, I hope you enjoy your time home.
Smoking is good sometimes, after a big meal like mansaf with some arabian coffee, the weather is good and the view is nice you pull out a ciggarette, yummm..
Jordan is called smoker's heaven, which it truely is:)
Stay strong man, but hey I am mean, once a friend of mine who is a heavy smoker decided to quit, and we used to be room mates, but he used to kill me with his smoking so what do I do when he decides to quit, I bought a pack and started smoking, in a matter of five minutes he was back on track:)
Muhanned, don't be evil.. halla2 bas7ab soutiiii... hehehehe..
Is this your first serious quit attempt? A few months after you quit, even if you cheat and smoke a cig, it will taste like crap...prob because you have your sense of taste back! You have to go through 3 or 4 cigs before they start tasting good again. So if you (hopefully not) give into temptation and take a drag or a even a whole cig, it'll just be a strong reminder of why you quit in the first place. Unless you throw caution to the wind and dive head over heels back into smoking (in which case you will be screwed and hooked right back), you should be fine.
But ISA you will have stronger will power than that and will stay away from it all :) Good luck!!
I really hope smoking gets banned in public spaces in Jordan. And actually enforced and not end up like the "can't-buy-cigs-unless-you're-18" law they passed a few years ago
La2 Secratea, ana dakhel 3la alla thom 3leke, etha btes7abi 9otek bakol hawa:)
Well Q, I know that you have a strong will, so inshalla you will be able to fight all the temptation. I know how hard it is, but remember when you were celebrating the other day that you are able to smell and taste things way better after you quit?? That was one happy post :)
Good luck in your trip and make sure to eat a lot of falafel and shawerma for me :)

well, to tell u the truth, the only thing i "bahkol hamoh" when the palne lands at amman airport...is the smoke cloud and the bad smell of it...i feel i wanna throw up the moment i get out ot the tunnel and feel sorry for my son that he has to face this...
now u know how it feels to be a nonsmoker and u can breath ur lungs inside out and afraid to try to smoke and "tokrosh nafasak"...!!! come on!!!
    bessalammeh inshalla...and be good...
    peace to all...
Smoking is banned in public places in Jordan. Tha law is there, but nobody is enforcing it.

On avergae, it takes SEVEN times of trying for a smoker to completely quit smoking. So the more you try the more likely you'll succeed

Allah ye3anak. Quitting smoking in Jordan is so difficult. We are a Smokers-Friendly Society. We give all rights to smokers every where; Non smokers have two options, either to keep their mouths shut or to get into fights in the bus, taxi, public places and everywhere else.
