On God, and other dangerous ideas

A few words, left by a visitor to this blog left me wondering for a few minutes. We as adults understand the concept of God, holiness the spiritual upper omnipotent force for good that is engulfing, surrounding, penetrating and flooding everything around us with love and care. But how can such a concept be delivered to a child. How do they know what it means. How are they going to enjoy it's uplifting presence and soothing reassurance that God is there and will always be there to help you and support you even in your moment of need

I guess what I am asking is not that trivial.

To rephrase the question a little bit. What do we want to instill in the next generation? Fear of the Almighty, or love of the compassionate merciful god?

Maybe we'll opt to do both. The very definition of a god mandates that he possesses superior powers in everything. A dream long lost by humans. We know that we can be good in one thing, or few things, maybe many things, but NEVER everything

Consider the story of Abraham who started thinking and contemplating at the existence of the lord. His mind was just not satisfied with the explanations that the elder gave about their idols. And he reached with reasoning that there can only be one god. (and you probably know the rest of the story)

Yet, little kids might lack this understanding and deep connection that would allow them to fathom such a concept and end up simply emulating their elders until they reach the age where they start differentiating and making their own conclusion and mind regarding issues.

This is really so complicated!
