I have no idea why these things keep dropping in front of me. But another tragedy just found it's way to me! AGAIN.. So why do parents have this urge to believe that they determine what's best for their children (after they pass into adulthood)? A lady I met today, has 2 daughters, and one son. One from a father and two from another! And she's getting a divorce! Why? Because her family refused to allow her to marry the one she loves! For god's sake .. what's the worst that could happen? She's going to get a divorce ..... (Twice?!)

I'm sick and tired of hearing the same old story. Parents forced her .. Family forced him.. You know, I my self was the victim of family pressure. I played a long for a while but at the end. Enough was enough. And I just had to refuse, rebel and just do what I thought is right!

This should be the fate of any sane person above the age of 18! For most countries a person age 18 is allowed to take part in military service. In other words he's entrusted to take out orders that would end people's lives. In addition to trusting him/her with millions of dollars worth of equipment.

Parent's appear to have a problem of letting go. They forget that the minute their child steps into adulthood, their role as parents is over and they can only function in their capacity as consultants, bringing their wealth of experience and knowledge as a supportive tool instead of a weapon to suppress what the children really want.

Today, this lady is facing the worst nightmare. So they denied her the only thing that makes her happy (to get married to the one she loves instead of the one she's "arranged" to marry.

Parents .. please.. live and let live ...you lived your time ... allow them to live theirs

Allow me to quote from Gebran Khalil Gebran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit,
    not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you
with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
    Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that
    is stable

There is such a big gap between our parent's generation and us that there isn't a nice middle ground for negotiations. The generation skip as I call it is the one causing these divorces and unhappiness. The "forced" marriages and the never ending obeying of the rules is the one that is causing this corruption withing our society. It's that mentality that Middle Eastern families suffer from.

Marriage is simple. It's like matching your clothes. If it doesn't match in colours or appearance than no point in wearing it. Try to find things that match. Why force your self to wear such an attire when you know it is hideous and does not match!

Oh God You Are So Right about this one.

Nothing better for a girl or a guy to take his own decision about getting married, because if it didnt work out well, he/she wont blame anyone who may had forced him/her into that marriage

That quote of Gibran was in my graduation speech last year LOL
On a more relevant note, this is very usual, sad and pathetic.
