    women

    Memories....

WOW!! You read my mind or something?
It's my life long dream to find a wealthy man, get married to him and live happily ever after!
It's nice to have a safety net to fall back to, and that's what husbands are for.
Now are you going to find me a rich husband?
    Hi derasat raheba.
Well, lets see.. if not making enough money, so why on earth would I leave my kids all day long with a babysitter and I know that I’ll end up paying all my money to her? “mshan a7a2e2 zati”??? wa2teeha toz feeha o fi zat.ha … I want to play with my kids all day long, that’s what matters
On the other hand, if my husband is making enough money for both of us to live comfortably.. why would I work and put myself under stress while he is already doing a very good job?? “bardo mashan a7a2e2e zati”??? kaman toz feeha o fi zat.ha … amma habal!!!!
Frankly .. I’m one of those people if I have the chance to take care of my house and kids instead of working, I wouldn’t say no, I don’t mind working as long as I need it, and as long as my husband is ok with it, but if he is not.. then hell with the world .. I’m staying home.. bala 7oqooq mar2a bala bateekh

i decided to stay home because man it was hard working and taking care of a home, husband and a baby..and o the guilt of not being with me son...at the end really my working made no difference financially...it put us at a very high tax bracket, most of my income went for taxes and daycare making it not worth all the stress i was going through..instead i stay home with the kids and working on my second degree , my accounting certification and run a tiny accounting business with 4 clients including hubby...and when i'm ready to go to work my degree and experience are not too old..:)
my last job was actually great and very accommodating to my family needs...but the job i had before that was awful..when my son was sick and i had to stay home they made me feel like i committed a crime, because i would not overtime, because i still had a huge responsibility waiting for me at home still, i was told that I'm not a team player and blah blah blah..forget about the fact that when i worked there before having my baby i worked long hours and worked like a maniac at the month end...uff! don't let me go there...being at home with the kids is so much better..especially at the rate they are growing..life is to freakin short!

shoot..i typed too fast..i forgot to look over what i wrote..please exuse my grammer and spelling..
GO Sam  GO… your kids comes first :)
And here is one more thing maternity leave and taking care of the kids while they are sick!! I mean that reason my it’s own is enough to make women stop working and rather stay home and quit their jobs.

Hi Qwaider, Mr. “Controversial as Controversial can be” :)
I personally think that it’s the only sane choice for women to stay home once they have kids, but that’s only me.
Generally, the problem is not about fighting for women’s rights, it’s about the mutual treatment for everyone.
Maybe not on a physical level, but women are fully capable of doing what men can do, in some things they are even better than men.
This is one of those topics that no matter how much research or studies are done, it goes down to the same bottom line: we are all human, sure there are men and women, but we should all be given the same chances and rights, as humans, not as different genders.

I just love it how we feel compelled to throw liberal disclaimers that may or may not reflect our beliefs just to stave off any accusations of backwardness.
The talk totally neglected the moral side of it..
What work gives and makes to self esteem and how it lifts you up and pushes you to exceed your own expectations of yourself..and that applies man OR woman..
That must count..as making money is as essential as the morality of it.
A dear friend of mine advised me to work and step into the real world when i was having hard time..and for him i'll always be grateful and would never know how to reward him for that tip..
My life changed dramaticly and my character was mended and enhanced with every success along the way..i have to say here that the most benefit went to my kids..as having a provider with a strong position to back them up morally and financially was what they really needed..
No..even if i had enough money to support my kids without having to work..i would still love to have that sense of accomplishment and success that i'm blessed with by the end of each day.
I see a different angle to this whole subject (as usual!): work has been defined by the "free western world" and captical states as that job you have to be in at 9, and come back from at 5, but think of it away from these bureaucratic (i spell correctly, i use babylon!) dimentions, what if work is the amount of effort discharged into accomplishing results... you know, if we apply that sense to the current office job, we are not working because we are producing NONE sometimes. What if a woman can work from home? not just to accomplish relief towards her kids, but to make the world different, and i mean business and science. What if she is a great genuis mathematician? who can come up with the best theories ever since Einstien? should having kids stop her from doing that? and should we push her outside of her main concern for the betterment of the world? i think the solution exists, if only we change our perception of "work."

That being said, el wazeefeh, or "office work" is such an obnoxious thing to both men and women, the majority of human beings would rather quit their jobs, woman have that option at hand (thank god), most men dont. Little number of people have jobs that they love, jobs where they are the bosses of their own, productive and world changing jobs, to those, I say we need each and everyone of them, women or men, becuase they are such a rare kind.

I remember an English teacher who once said: women in the west work because they have to, here they work because they want to.

last note: ta72ee2 el zat :) [what a funny phrase] could be much accomplished in raising kids.

Yeah, It's also stirring up a lot of controversy these days

    Maioush
Working at home is still work, and I agree with you.. it should come as a higher priority sometimes

    Sam
Way to go Sam, I'm really impressed. (I fixed all the spell errors :))

I don't just seek controversy. I seek interaction, discussion the ability to collectively think. They happen to land in the controversial block :)
Your choice is actually a valid one, and as it seems many people are doing the same thing. Women's rights activists actually used it to support their claims ...
And yes, I agree women are equal and can do almost everything a man can do, and some that a man can't do.

    Rannan
Actually, that's not a disclaimer, that a REAL belief. That's how I feel. I came from a family where my mother worked for over 40 years. And I see the reason behind it. That's why for me it comes naturally.

    Caller
You're right, those are very important points. But unrelated to the issues here. Which are "Why are WORKING women, deciding to go back home" not the other way around :). So when you decide to quit your job, it will apply to you.

    Mariam Ayyash
Actually, the study did take into considerations home businesses, and home offices.
As for the rest ... it's all good ... thanks for the addition

the relation i saw was how come they neglected that factor when they did the study..when it's essential to many...along with other circumstances that would cause any kind of action that is worth studying...
    kolon yoghani 3ala laylah..
oo life is not about cleche like...getting morals by raising kids..kids are the greatest and hardest job..but...i wish life was that easy.
Who would choose to work in a long-day tiering job while he can stay home with all his expenses taking care of?

I guess it isn a matter of gender. I would choose to marry a wealthy woman and stay home if I have the option of doing so.

Women went out of their homes and fought for their rights to work in order to gain their independence that men violated for being the source of finanial support. Now, maybe society has evolved to protect those women independence if they decided to stay home.
