    Rated 4.6/5 stars (171 votes cast) Thanks for your vote!

    Yes, voting should be considered a national duty, but I think the duty stops there. The person elects the person that best represents their views. And answers their concerns.

    In an interesting Email I received, the sender claimed it's my duty to vote for a specific person.

    This is certainly the first time I receive election spam. I guess some genius suggested spam to the desperate candidate to reach a larger audience.

    This would have all gone unnoticed and I would have probably just deleted it without paying any attention to it. But this one was different. It had couple of items that caught my attention. Urgency, and duty.

    I fail to see when did the election of someone who's a member of IAF has turned to becoming a duty. The test hinted that this is not only a civil duty, but rather a holy religious duty. Not less than praying or pilgrimage.

    It's interesting to see how terms like patriotism, reform, change and society have been thrown loosely in there. With some select words from verses from the Quran.

    Then they threw in a list of why it's a religious duty to support this candidate;

    • Because it's an advice and therefore there's mandatory and encouraged islamically
    • Because it's participating in the Democratic process
    • Because it's choosing the best representative (funny, this sort of contradicts with mandatory obligatory duty)
    • Because it choosing a strong person with integrity (remember Moses story?)

    And a bunch of other very shimmering cliches!

    If this person was the only one in the present, I wouldn't vote for him, just for spamming me

    LOL! But why do you get such emails if you live in America? Assuming IAF is Islamic Action Front!
    Damn!!I bet you now they know that I am one of their bitter enemies!!I wouldn't mind to vote for an islamic candidate if he truley knows what islam is about(at least in my perspective), We have seen their agendas and read about it, first: Close all "massage" centers, close all liqure stores, limit buildig churches, transfer all education to arabic, take down all signs written in english, do what we tell you to do without arguing, democracy is what we define it to be, freedom of speech is what we say not what others want to say,etc...I have even read somewhere a kind of threar to the people and the government not to ignore them or they will be heard in "other means", I recommend you all to go and check out their newspaper website, al-sabeel, I always laugh hard when I read their coverage of the news, but sadly it is a trusted source for many people!!My real question is: Are they the majority as they claim? Aren't they using relegion as a tool? Aren't they trading with the palastenian cause? One you pollute relegion with dirty politics I no longer believe in anything you say!
    They might not be the majority, but apparently they're the most organized and most funded. That's what makes them a force to reckoned with at any level
    Vote for him man, or you are accused for high treason.
    loooooool

    I got the same email.
