The obvious answer is yes, but ... Just think about it....

So you've been going out with a lady, she's been sharing a major part of your life ... probably more than anyone else ... and then comes the time when you're considering settling down and marrying ....

Important Note: After reading the "INTERESTING" comments, I decided to add this update:
If you think this is ABOUT ME!! Then think again, this is NOT about me, this is just a hypothetical situation!

She's been there ... sharing your life ... your bed ... your world ...

Then ... your good old lady finds you a nice young girl from home, groomed since her birth to be the perfect wife, mother and companion ... She understands what you want more than you do ... you've not even met before.... fresh meat ... as they would say ...

The thrill of being with someone you have never seen before.... yet, what's expected of you is well known ... all too well ...

But what about the one that has shared and accepted all your flaws ... lived with you ...would you look back? would you stay with her?

Are you going to ever forgive yourself? or forget? or find comfort in the new situation?

Too many questions ...

hahaaaaa ! Went through the same dilemma my friend years ago and preferring to go for another lady than the one who you shared a lot with just because a new hand picked one from back home is available will come to bite you in the ass for years ! ASK ME ! Remember mate the grass is not always greener on the other side ! ;)

Usually I tend not to think about such Hypothetical situations!

It all depends on the persons involved, there are no general rules you can follow in relations!
So it's best not to hear what others got to say or see what the general attitude is.

Just go with your brain and heart, it's that easy.
And of course someone you know is better than the little shy girl who has not been out of her parents home and know nothing in this life!

If he loves the one he is with he should be with her, its not fair to the lady back home who in some cases are the fools the guys picture them to be. he will not tell her he was sleeping around so he will be in this case cheating before her walked in the door ! and another side for him, does he love the lady he is with now ? does he want her to be his partner for life, its totally different than having a " no strings" relationship than the mother of all commitments. and I don't want to go into hala and haram or children.

yes i contemplate! and i came down to this conculusion, i watch movies "ghasben 3anni" on mbc2, with those love stories and end misreably or are soooo dark and depressing i feel i want go jump in and save the people from depression! (especially those set in the mid ages) everytime i try to think, why does this happen? and i follow the leads back to the original cause, its really because they allowed each other to become too close without marraige! 3ashan haiek bagool, thats what marriage is supposed to do, protect us from those depressing moments, movies like "love story" or "troy" i just add: serves them right!

Exactly, this is an issue on multiple levels. First it's not fair for the lady he's with. Second it's not fair for the future wife. And third it's not right for him because simply, there is no guarantee that he will be happy or find happiness
