If someone decides to commit a sin, in the privacy of their own homes... would that makes any difference?!

    adam and eve

Some guy, in the privacy of his own home, pours in a cup of wine and celebrates. Alone, harming absolutely no one.

A groom, and his bride, in their wedding night, celebrating with some champagne. In the privacy of their hotel suite. What's the worst that could happen?? How is this bad?

Is a sin still a sin if it's being committed in a personal fashion? reflecting and affecting only the person or consenting adults in involved?

Some questions that are puzzling, not due to what I believe the answer is, but how people view them...

The weirdest thing that I could think of is..... What if the bride and groom mentioned above broke up for any other unrelated reason. Wouldn't that be brought up as the reason? or justification? I'm sure, someone would find a way to bring it up

    Memories....

It depends on your beliefs, if you believe in god then you obey his orders! And regarding the privacy, this issue was taken into consideration in islam, and you will not be punished unless you come up and admit doing a sin, it is just amazing how logical islam is!! other than that it is between god and you...
What's the punishment for drinking alcohol?

I think that committing a sin, whether in public or private, is still a sin.  If you sneak a snack during Ramadan and no one sees you, is it a sin?  Doesn't God see you, even when others don't?

People have become so preoccupied with what others see/think, that they've forgotten that God sees 100% of the time.  This has led to the justification of certain things, because no one catches you and personal honor has been maintained.

That said, how can drinking alcohol be a sin and smoking is completely allowed?  It would seem like the latter is worse than the former.
    Very interesting thought!
A sin is a sin no matter where it is committed.
If you believe in your heart and conscious that it is an act that you are OK with doing and will be able to live with without hurting yourself and anyone ever, and seems right for you to do, then it is not a sin! But also it depends on how you classify your own actions...For instance, a sin to me might not be a sin to others.
its the same as: If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it fall does it make a noise?

now you only talked about drinking, which is another story..there are lots of things that are considered as sins..to some..and nothing to others..the word sin is not to be used so loosely..a sin covers many aspects and only to people who follow religion..

you can say is it wrong?

It all depends from which perspective your are looking at it.

A sin,in the religious perspective is all about self discipline, and I think many has given good answers above.

Now personal choices (or freedom) is another issue, I mean it's rude to pee in public (maybe not in Jordan), but if you are on a deserted Island, then drop your pants and enjoy it.

It's illegal to walk naked in public but you are free to do it at home (though I really think somewhere in the book of law, it's illegal at home as well :D)
