After a very horrible month for Mac with all the security flaws reported. Another, serious hacker attack vector targets Mac running Quicktime and (ironically) quicktime users who have Firefox on windows. And again Ironically, Internet Explorer is not affected by this vulnerability!

I've been saying this for couple of years now, after in depth analysis of browsers, OSes and their security vulnerabilities. While more simplistic fanboys continued to champion the virtues of Firefox, MacOs, and Linux. I stood in the position that was skeptic of all the above. Everyone sucks, and almost every single one of them has enough flaws to fill encyclopedias!

The issues have just not been discovered yet. The bigger the target, the more the number of attacks. And that's what's been plaguing windows and IE for many years.

The reason Internet Explorer is not affected by this possible attack, is that it has Sandboxing (in laymen's terms a secure area where plug-ins are executed away from the main code of the program to prevent such issues)

Read more about the story on Eweek.

Just a word of advice to everyone, security is an illusion, don't be succumbed into it! Be skeptic, and know all the facts before you decide..

    Memories....

I am not technical at all, BUT I remember my security professor telling us that nothing is more secure, MAC platform and other operating systems are less attacked not because they are secure but because they are less common, the more users move toward them the more attacks you will hear about, this was 3 years ago..
Yes Mohannad, almost 12 years ago, we used to gather around me and my friends and we used to discuss security. And how, the chief of the FBI at the time said that the only computer that is secure is one that is disconnected, placed in a safe, and buried 6 feet under the ground in an unknown location. And, he was still unsure about that.

In the past couple of years, with the rise of Linux and later firefox many fanboys started tooting how amazing these were and how these are the best thing since sliced bread!

Having worked on almost all computer system made since the 70's of Mini class or less. I have seen all this stuff before, and have lived through so many hypes, dying one after the other. Mac being one of them, it died several times already :) And Ironically (this seems to be the word of the day) anyway, ironically, Microsoft spotted Apple up with few hundred million dollars (so yeah, Microsoft owns part of Apple, isn't this ironic?) 150 Million dollar (in 1997 dollars as Apple was about to go bankrupt) those would count for few billions now

Anyway, the point is that I've seen so many hypes that faded one by one... who's next to go? ... I can give you one ... iPhone!
laaaaaaaaa333333, iPHONE? i dont use it but i can smell the hype!

and lets not forget that recently apple changed architecture towards intel in order to allow windows to be installed on apple laptops, that COULD mean worse security ;)
Mariam, the processor architecture has nothing to do with security. Although, the intel processors do have the "do not execute" bit, making them even more secure. I think that was a good step on Apple's behalf

As for the iPhone, I don't know what is going to happen to it, it's not released yet. :) But as we say in Arabic, "tomorrow, we will sit on the wall, and hear the noise"
    bokra bnog3od 3al 7eit w bnesma3 el ... zaffeh? shoo hath? never heard this one before :)
Blah blah blah ... blah blah blah firefox blah blah blah .. blah blah blah windows blah blah blah .. blah blah blah ... blah blah security blah blah blah .. blah blah blah .. sucks blah blah blah .. hacker.. blah blah blah

That's what I got from this post
