An interesting incident happened to me a little while ago where the expected noble thing of me to do was to "Lie" to save some one's neck! I felt really miserable and quite frankly had an issue with the idea. It's different when you lie for your own issues, and enough guilt that you lug around. But to lie for someone else... It's just so much "sin" and emotional guilt that you're taking just so that they don't!

So here's the deal. Me and a good friend of mine were in a "compromising" location somewhere in town. We shouldn't have been there in the first place if he didn't insisted.

I really hate these places especially when I know for sure what goes in there and how no one will ever leave happy! The bad part is that my friend is married and has a family waiting for him at home. Now the problem is quite serious because when you're married, your wife is expected to keep tabs on you and know where you are... AT ALL TIMES because ...well that's her right!

What if something bad happened? She needs to know. What if she needed to get to you? She really needs to know and that's where Cell phones become a blessing (if you're not wiggling your tail) and become a curse if you are.

So my "smart" friend decides to shut off his phone, and his "smarter" wife decides to call ....... No other than yours truly! And guess what, she heard the atmosphere and knew for a fact that we're not "home". So now I'm busted, he's busted, she's mad for multiple reasons and I am really confused what to do.

There are certain images you like to maintain in front of the people you care about. You really don't want to go by taking the image of a playboy unless you really are one, you don't care or You enjoy the idea of being viewed as such. That was just an example.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, she was put under the impression that he was not with me, and that I was going crazy on my own! Which puts me in such a bad situation. But it's alright.

Anyway, the next morning... I get a call from no other than the "Smart" wife, playing his mother, and asking me to sever all my ties to my friend because "I'm a negative influence" on the married middle aged man!

How would I answer that with anything but .... "Sure..." and continue to live a life, rather than jeopardize my friend's life!! And the next time someone asks her what do you think of me, her answer is going to be ....... Well I don't want to even think about it

yiiiiiiiiiiiiiickes! I mean it's totally his fault.. HIS FAULT,, his fault and nothing less! He shouldn't lie from the first place and if he really cares about you he wouldn't make you look this bad infront of his wife even if that means him being busted, being yakol hawa! I mean why on earth do you have to stand for him and defend him when this makes you look like a bad influence.. this is not a smart lie, it's one that would made her 'and who knows maybe others with time as women don't forget easily' get a really bad imagine when you're not 100% guilty, he should get the biggest part of the blame!!!
    Salam,

1- I would not have gone with home to that place.

2- If his wife called me I would have gave him the phone immediately.

3- If his wife called me to tell me to stop seeing her husband, I would have said: your relationship with your husband is none of my concern, and mine with your husband is none of your concern. He is an adult he can decide for himself.

The question here is " was it worth it?"
I mean was this a one time thing? if so, this could have gone alot worse than this Elhamdellah ejat 3ala heek, you guys could have got hurt God forbid.

We men do stupid stuff sometimes, I can't beleive ezalameh tarek maratoh wewladoh ew raye7 3alshusmo.

Lessah mashrebtesh enascafe! 3ashan heek makheth mawqif LOL

    Peace
hmmm, so you don't want the "smart" wife to bad mouth you to other people, because you were dragged there to start with by her husband : ) we should be considerate to you feelings, but I can't help laughing LOOOOOOOOL, how old are you guys ?
regardless of what happened till now, I think if your friend is a real friend, he would tell his wife the truth about the situation (thats if you told him what the situation is)...
don't let go with such an issue, cause that would be remembered.
    wives of friends ~_~
my hate target of the day ! they act way too much like a mother when they should be a friend ("oh it can't be my lil' angel doing that, u are the bad influence ")
    Wake up stew brain !

I can't believe you answered that night!!
I can't believe she called you the next day..not even good moms do that!!

    Yep, Shame on me :)

    Dima,
He should, but he's got a greater risk, and yes, women don't forget easily. So I guess it's better me than him. On the other hand, lets say someone asks about my reputation from her or one of her friends....

    Palforce
Itfaddal ishrab Coffee 3inna ya zalameh :)
He was in a very ... hmm .. not available! So I couldn't really, "interrupt!"
I should have probably said that to her, but I don't know what the consequences of defiance. I decided to just say whatever she wanted to hear and absorb her anger instead of fueling it
And no, it wasn't worth it at all. I don't think I would do it again

    Tamara,
Absolutely! You got it right. We're 16 :) Come and Join us!

    Ahmad
The issue is that if he does tell her, she will be angry with him, and he's kind of in the doghouse. So, I guess it's not in anybody's interest to escalate the issue

    Bambam
YEEAAAHHH! God, they really want to take the "mother role" but at the first issue, they would say, "I'm not your mother!" Jannantoona!
Wallah he's the bad influence on me :( I really didn't want to go!

    Caller
God damn Cellphones with multiple numbers for the same user. I answered because I thought it was Him, I didn't realize it's his home number!
Yes, I can't believe she did that, but I understand, she's trying to maintain the safety of her home
Just make sure the smart wife doesn't read your blog :-)
Wallahi I'm so afraid that she does! :S!

yeah, it sucks to bear someone else's fault as urs...and the stupid wife should give her husband some space...he needs to breath, i am not defending him since he sucks too, cuz of what he did to u, not to mention his sick behavior...and allah ye3enak, but i think u should talk to ur friend and ask him to clear ur rep, since it was his fault and i am sure he wouldnot cuz his steering is his wife for sure....how sick to shut ur phone??? and still that doesnot mean the wife should trail him like his tail....allah ye3een el nass 3ala balaweeha....
