Of course, unless you've been living under a blogospheric rock today is Mother's day (outside of the US). And I see people congratulating each other, and rejoicing all over the place. Which is all fine and dandy had thier mothers EVER seen thier blogs. But this is not the point of this post.

I've seen some that say Happy mother's day "To all mothers". What's wrong with that picture?!

ALL? That's is what's bothering me. The word "ALL" which is such a evil word. Such a bad word, such a tyrannical word that I seriously and deeply hate it!

Not that I have anything against mothers, I LOVE my mother, I love my sisters (who are all mothers) but does anyone, no matter how naive, think that "ALL" mothers are good!? Or even deserve the "Happy Mother's day" greeting!?

The obvious answer is NO, not everyone deserves that.

There are bad mothers out there, who deserve nothing. In fact on mother's day, I would send them a curse instead of a blessing. Cursed be thy name bad mother. Cursed be thy actions and thy decisions, for you have disgraced the sacred bond of motherhood

If you guess right, then you will notice that I'm against the Hadith that says, "Heaven is below mother's feet الجنة تحت اقدام الامهات". For some people, the worst thing that ever happened to them was ..... Their mother!

As for my own mother, Happy mother's day ya sit el 7abayeb

    Memories....

OH MY GOD IT'S MOTHERS DAY.

    I totally forgot.

Gotta call my mom, I am sooooo glad i read this post or I would have been dead.
Personally I Qwaider I passed greetings to three ladies aside from "2ummi" coz I think this simple greeting could draw a smile on their faces ..
My friend she is now mom for around 10 months, I was really impressive that she shouldered the responsibility of being mom very well and did a great efforts.

A kind lady which is refugee to Jordan with only one son and does not know anybody here..

My grandmother despite her old age she waits gladly to receive this greeting as a to be the big mother :)

Nevertheless we agreed on this day to be specific or not coz the original to cherish her during the whole year but it was very nice stop to celebrate "good mothers" ..I met many nice guys and girls in the shops trying to buy something even it is simple but it was lovely shared thing..

As you said most of mothers may don't read our blogs but this a message maybe we addressed ourselves through whether she read or not. personally I don't consider my family keef 2a2ullak romantic or passionate one ..we are too casual ..rarely we kiss each other or something like that..(hope you got it) but in deeds we know that we are very caring family loving each other.

I watched few days ago an interview with the mom who sold her son in Egypt..I don't like to judge her ..but she said I have two sons couldn't feed ..so to let one of them live is better than let both of them die so what do you think is it easy for me to neglect my motherhood like that? I left painfully my motherhood and scarified it to give my son better life which I couldn't offer! It's different point If this baby will really live a better life or will be involved in the childhood trade subjected to sexual abuse! Anyway there are good mothers and maybe bad mother but even bad we couldn't stereotype without understanding their conditions in certain cases or put ourselves in their shoes.
There is always good and bad. There are no absolutes in these things. Good mothers exist, and bad mothers exist. There are bad mothers that screw up their kids, and follow their own selfishness and cause more harm than anything. Same goes for Fathers. There are good ones and bad ones!
I think you're not using the word "Stereotype" here in the right context it's completely irrelevant. We're talking about cases of "good" vs cases of "bad" there are many good mothers no doubt. And there are many bad ones NO DOUBT. The stereotyping is actually happening hen we say the word "ALL"

ya samer, the trend is to wish All mothers on that day a happy one...true and u r absolutely right about good and bad among us...that doesnot mean we generalize nor  can we specify...it is just a greeting and good mom will know if she deserves it or not...i believe a mother will konw deep down inside of her if she is doing a good job or not as a mother...18 months ago i realized that i wasnot doing a good job due to stress and anger probs, then i seeked help, simply cuz i felt i was a lowzy mom and i was doing a bad job towards myson....my doctor thought i was on the right track to help myself just by realizing and acknowledging i am not a good mom!!! today i can say, thank god i am doing fine with my son, maybe not the greatest mom cuz i keep seeing other moms having great time with their babies and keep blamning myself cuz that is what i missed with my son... nevertheless at least deep down inside NOW i know i am doing a good job as a mother to him...and i believe all parents r like that...they realize and know deepinside whether they r good parents or not...so greetings on that special day really doesnot matter...bear on mind that alot of kids lost one or their parents and maynot have anyone to celebrate that day with!!!!those kids break my heart most....!!!
May allah keep all parents for their kids...and send those who donot have any someone to make it up for them...
ps. i tend to believe that all parents love their kids unconditionally one way or another, but some of them have a different ways of showing that love, if any...go figure!!
Some parents ya Afaf, don't even deserve to have kids

Why is everyone obsessed with generalizing today!? I'm usually the one doing that! :)

wallah i am not generalizing and i know where u r coming from and what u mean with this post... and i totally agree with u that some ppl donot even deserve to be blessed with kids...but it is god's wish to give them kids, and he did that for a reason. and it is the same reason god didnot give kids for others who really deserve to have them!! we will never know the wisdom behind this!
some see kids as a blessing and a gift, while others see it differently!!!
    ppl r simply different....

It's actually only Arab Mother's Day.  The only countries that celebrate Mother's Day on the first day of Spring are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, Sudan,United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

It surprises me that people who are considered cultured as yourself are the least educated in their religion. First of all the Hadith you’re talking about doesn’t mean all mothers go to heaven so you better look up for it’s meaning before you say that you are against something was said by prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Second thing in Islam even if you have bad parents but when they grow old it will stay the son/daughter responsibility to look after them and that is among many things what made this religion great.
I hope you understand that by saying that you’re against what is said by the prophet are committing a major sin. You can say I don’t believe he said this and justify the reasons but if you say you’re against it even if he said it will be another issue.
I don’t know if you care about religion but I thought I should notify you in case you do. (و ذكر فان الذكرى تنفع المؤمنين)
It's actually an interesting point you bring up Bilal. You can't just consider someone immoral, or against religion for saying something. I'm really disappointed. But it's OK, I've been called worse

funny thing is, I've been called an Islamist and an Atheist ... I wonder how I can accommodate for the two!
Qwaider: u don’t need to go against el7adeeth :""الجنة تحت اقدام الامهات
All mothers are women who have children that's why they are mothers but not all women who have children are truly mothers …I mean God wants us to see how difficult to be a mother is… how hard this task is .. so He says al janat ta7t aqdam el2omahat … coz they scarify.. she has to wake up every while and then to chick her baby .. she has to take care of him .. u know .. she has big responsibilities that's why she has her importance in this life .. but there are some mothers who don’t know what is the meaning of being mothers and I know that they don’t deserve to be called " mothers" but at least they had a difficult task to deliver their babies to this life … u know it's a hard task .. no matter what they do .. still they had the first part of being mothers done .. that’s why u should say happy mother's day .. but personally, for those who didn’t appreciate the meaning of the word " mother " and God's blessing … I cant say happy mother day … wele ma 2dar ne3met rabna … she deserves to be punished … and u know eljana lalmoslmen kolhom but not all are going to enter it from the very beginning… the same goes to mothers .. if u deserve it u will enter it .. if not u will be punished first .. I think that this is God's task … we can't judge …
B3den lets leave the decision for those who have mothers like that … it's their right to decide whether to celebrate or not … thanks to God we have good mothers.
Qweider ,I meant that even "bad" mothers sometimes they have reasons or conditions make them not good ones as they supposed to be, I agree on that there are moms don't deserve this word but even those "sometimes" are affected by many things turn them to be out of their nature..that's what I meant to make it clear, otherwise yes not ALL dads are perfect ones nor moms as well.
Bara2, Some Animals have more compassion by their instinct and nature than some human mothers.
I'm glad that we finally agree that the worst that have happened to some people was their mothers
    Red Rose,
If a man beats his wife, would you find a justification for his action?

Reflect that on a bad mother! I'm talking about the mothers who throw their children to the orphanages, or even attempt to kill them for any reason! Sure, I can think of a reason or two to justify why some guy beats his wife, can you justify why a women would kill her own child or let him grow up like that?
    No, I couldn't..
I do not want to go in the issue of the strength of the Hadith and the validity of its transmission, however, I do not think that even the Hadith in this form, "Heaven is below mother's feet الجنة تحت اقدام الامهات", is inclusive to all mothers. It can be inclusive to MOTHERS only, those who deserve the word to be said to them. Those who suffered and went through hardships bringing up good children to the society and world. Why to assume that the Hadith refers to ALL mothers? It would be naive on the behalf of the speaker, who happens to be the Prophet peace be upon him, to mean ALL MOTHERS who actually gave birth to children, which is just so impossible for him to sound or mean that. What about those who raised kids as their own, and are regarded as great mothers by those kids???. The concept of mother in the Hadith, I believe, doesn't refer to any and every woman who had ever given birth. That is just nonsense!
I never said that you’re against religion as I don’t see myself qualified to judge others faith. I had 2 points; the first is that you can’t judge a Hadith and say you’re against it before you know what is meant by it. Second point I was only explaining to you the difference between saying this Hadith is or might be fake and saying that you’re against it even if it is true. I felt I should draw your attention to those points in case you didn’t know that’s all brother.
Unfortunately, I know a mother who scarify her children to live in rest … she got divorced after she gave birth of her youngest … she left them … and now … they are kind of spiteful but not hateful … they come to visit her every while and then .. one of them is in prison .. the others meta3tesen in their life … she says: this is my punishment … I deserve it … this is so hard and I cant take it no more .. there will be no one to take care of me when my DEAR husband dies …" she hates him " ))I can assure u that she is suffering the sequences now .. this is in her life .. so what do u think will happen in the Judgments Day ??
Leave it to God … I know that they have no hearts … but not all people befhamo …
And some time .. animals teach us how to act in some situations … la testa5ef bel animal coz they are mature " MATURE???" more than humans …
When the two sons of Adam had a fight … the one who killed his brother didn’t know what to do with the dead body .. so God sent two 3'orabs and they had a fight and one killed the other. The winner 7afar 2ber and dafan the dead body … it taught Adam's son what to do ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was under the impression that the Hadith are the words of Muhammad and not the words of God.  In that case, how can questioning the interpretation, or even not agreeing with them, be a sin?
Dave, trust me, you don't wanna go there
Dave, nobody said that questioning the interpretation of a Hadith is a sin!. Hadith is what is recorded off Prophet Muhammad PBUH, including speech, act, or customs. The most important thing is that the Isnad, transmission, of the Hadith is valid. Now, you can question the Isnad of the Hadith, and search for the validity of it, however, why should a Muslim go against the words of Prophet Muhammad who is considered the second source of legislation in Islam After Allah? Anyways, in the case of this Hadith presented over here, commonsense gives the gist.

    Secratea,
thanks, you have explained it better than I did.

    Dave,
there are some details in Islam that are not included in Quran , for example in Quran  we are asked to pray but it doesn’t explain the way to do it and we can only find it in Hadith.
