In a recent turn in the events in the infamous imprisonment of the Egyptian Blogger Kareem. The court has finally sentenced him to 4 years in prison. For, "Insulting Islam" and "Defaming President Mubarak". Just 4 years? Come on ... A guy in an honor killing gets more than that!

What was the judge thinking? Just 4 years for speaking ill of the almighty god himself President Mubarak!? How could they just sentence him for 4 years!?

I demand justice, I say, lets execute Kareem for his actions of speaking ill of the President. Next thing they will tell us that Kareem is a Satanist, converted to Scientology, he's also Gay and used to steal money and beat little children as a hobby. Oh and did I mention he's a Mossad Agent assigned with recruiting people to work for Israel and is a traitor to his country. And there are inconclusive evidence that he might be behind the death of Anna Nicole Smith. And was conspiring to bomb Darfur!

I'm sure the "Insulting of Islam" doesn't matter that much since all you need to do is take a little stroll in the streets of any major Arab city to hear the name of god tumbling up and down the stairs of heaven, and no one does anything. But the second someone mentions the president, or other forms of dictator head of states. They get what Kareem got

That's why I demand justice... Execute Kareem, burn him at the stake, chop his head off with a guillotine or better yet a 7th century saber, for speaking out ...

Go ahead, allow the world to not only making fun and ridicule us and the whole judicial system, but to hate us and even demand changes.... which are coming whether we asked for it or not

I personally, don't agree with much of what Kareem writes. I would go as far as say I feel offended. But imprisonment!? Prosecution? Isn't that WAY over the top!!?

What did prophet Muhammad do to the hypocrites in Madina (and he knew every single one of them, and they conspired against him, and they attempted to assassinate him several times)........?

Excellent, perspective - more jail time than an honor killing. God is big enough to protect His own honor.

i dont think they have stupid honor killing laws in egypt.

And they most certainly do not insult islam in egypt believe me i learned the hard way, jordanian swear words dont go down a treat there.

i read kareem only got 1 year for insulting la vache qui rit dictator and three for insulting al azhar.  but for f's sake you are in egypt what do you expect spouting stuff like that?  There aint no free speech there.  not saying i agree with him going to jail but its no surprise.

sorry i havent got any sympathy for him but for my old prof Saad Eddin Ibrahim i got all the time.
Saad Eddin Ibrahim was much more connected to America and he too was sent to jail . In the Arab world the rule is very well defined : You speak against the regime or the ruler you go to jail period.

Qwaider,  This guy said some really offending stuff about Islam. He should get what he deserved, "no sympathy". But the sentence is an exaggeration
for those who are saying Kareem got what he deserved:

I hope one day YOU will get what YOU deserve. Wait! but you already got what you deserve: rotten regimes that dehumanize their citizens and obscurantist retarded sheikhs who are issuing one fatwa after another to regulate how many breaths you take a day.

    Damn it.

amal: while blair and the labour party might be a lot of things dont think they are a rotten regime that dehumanises us ;-).  It was pretty obvious he was going to jail, as i said i dont agree with it.

hatem: yes he did go to jail, thats why i used him as an example.
