A good looking lady from the east, born, lived and educated in the US. Was justifying how she totally deserved the beating that her future husband is supposed to give her. Or, he won't be a man!

My thoughts were .. WHAT!? How could a 25 year old successful, university graduate, well employed young lady expect a beating from her husband on a weekly basis. I was in shock!

Apparently, she deserves it. Or so she thinks. According to her really weird reasoning. It brings discipline to her life. While was sinking in deeper shock!

I tried to understand why would anyone want to be beaten. My answer came to me like a lightning bolt from hell. "Because my daddy beats me". This last shock defibrillated my heart that stopped beating from the other shocks earlier!

But WHY would anyone do that! Why beat your daughter or your wife! She said that her mother enjoyed it and that had he not beaten her with his leather belt at least once a week she wouldn't have had discipline. He won't be a real man!!!!

What a silly idea about what real men! What ever happened to protector of the weaker woman? What ever happened to reason, logic and basic common sense? If this was the girl, how the hell did her bothers grow up to be? So many questions, ideas and gruesome pictures started racing in my oxygen deprived brain at this point!

So a man is not a man without beating the wife that's the idea. By whopping out that belt and whipping some love into the wife and the kids. What a bunch of bull!

When the whole world is looking to deliver women from these types of domestic violence. Some apparently are instilling weird and extremely negative ideas into the new generation.

I really felt sorry for the kind of screwed up mentality that such heinous acts have left on this person's mentality. Her spirit has been broken, and instead of standing tall, she's bending over to take the next wave of "deserved" whopping!

I've seen some crazy stuff in my life, but people actually asking to be tortured, humiliated, beaten and their body's and minds violated and by their own parents. That's the sickest thing I've ever heard

People, do yourself a favor. Violence begets violence, Beating is not a disciplinary method, no one deserves -by nature- to be hurt, Beatings are not indications of love but rather they indicate someone with violent tendencies. And most importantly, don't ever just shut up when someone, anyone beats you. Not even your dear daddy, no matter how naughty you were

    Memories....

Well, you think the mother has any opportunity to say NO? Never! Some times women compromise any thing for the sake of not being called "Divorced", "m6ala2a"... and this kind of women will bring up this kind of girls!
I can't imagine how these women think! I mean I really look down to anyone who beats women... i knew a man, w very respectful one, every one loves him, but one day i heared his neighbour say that he beats his little girl... Oh my God! his girl that he beats is an angel! a true angel! I know her... she never leaves home, NEVER! not even to school... her mom teaches her, and i am not exagerating! her mother can do nothing but cry while watching her little angle being beated...
The man who beats his wife and children, especially girls, is a BEAST! yes, a beast... a beast 3'asbet 3n elkol...
    mesh hek el ta2deeb!
I'm completely shocked !! I knew that physical punishment scar children, but this is so much more that I could have ever expected. I think you should advise her to seek therapy this is not normal at all.
Well, a good husband should fulfill his wife's desires. So what do we call a man who cannot fulfill a woman's masochistic fantasy?! I wouldn't think such a man deserves to be called a real man!!

So if she's asking for some whopping and isn't getting it, it's obvious that she would call that man a wussy!!
looool ya 7aram this is soooooo sad that i am actually laughing!
    thanks qwaider for posting this!
i heard this sentence in my own cute ears..

    masochism
    but without any sexual implications..

I'm really interested in Women empowerment and issues. I once read a statistic that says, and i'm not really sure of the percentage, but around 50% of Jordanian WOMEN agree that a man should discipline a woman by beating! Imagine!
I always say that women are not taking their full rights because of women themselves, rather than because of men. A womaan herself should set boundaries and choose how she should be treated, not just agree to whatever her dad does just becaue he's her dad. 3njad it's sad. I bet that this woman will beat her children too. The only thing we need in our society is more emotionally and physically abused people!

    what the hell? Stupid mentality!!
    Naryat:
Absolutely, it's so low and disgusting for anyone to beat a woman! Or anyone else for that matter
    Tamara:
Yeah, that's exactly what I felt too ... Absolutely shock! I just couldn't speak for a little while! And even when I wrote this, I think I was still under the influence of the shock
    Devil's Mind,
There's a difference between people seeking violent sex/treatment and a father-wife father-daughter beating! It's possible that some women might ask for it (literally) but I just find it despicable
    Lammoush:
    You're welcome
    Mala236:
فعلا حال الناس بيبكي من كتر الامراض النفسية و الاجتماعية عندهم
    Roba:
    Absolutely
    Dima:
Actually the statistic was 86% of Jordanian women, and I have SERIOUS doubts about it. It just doesn't make ANY sense to me!
    Rebellious Arab girl:
Imagine and she was feeling that it's what she deserved. Fully convinced of it!

Q, can I get her number!!!!!!!!!  PLEASE!  OK, sorry.  Sick humor and in very poor taste.  And certainly this subject no laughing matter.

You would be surprised at how much abuse western women get as well...and in some cases they're known to dish it out themselves.  I was shocked by the numbers, socioeconomic status and racial spectrum of the victims and perps.  My good friend volunteered at a domestic volence shelter and the tragedies I heard about the women there were just plain sickening.

Now I am no therapist or counselor, but I have noticed that some women who witness/experienced abuse, be it physical or verbal, think it of as a normal part of a healthy and loving relationship and accept it when it becomes a part of their relationship. Just like a never ending cycle.
Luai, she's not western ... She's A Muslim and as I said from the East (as in a little close to our part of the world)

I just picked up 3 old cell phones that I have and donated them to the domestic violence place, maybe someone will put them to some good use, although I sincerely hope no one ever does

So are you saying that she sees "him" as a man b/c she Eastern and that is what she was molded to believe when he shows her who's boss?  Where as in our part of the globe, he is considered trash and a complete low-life for the same act?

Unfortunately the need is there for these phones.  I do the same thing with old cell phones that I collect from various drop off places and get from friends.  Some go seniors on limited income and others to the shelters.

Good on you, bro!!  A very noble cause.
    This is tragically .. sad..
The reasoning however of her case could be that , she knew beating all her life , and she thinks its the "normal" way to get disciplined .. and she is not aware of any other "humane" way of discipline ..  I guess that's how people get screwed up mentalities.. growing up on wrong bases ..
And even worse Danah, pass it on to the next generation... :(
