Rated 4.3/5 stars (136 votes cast) Thanks for your vote!

When your poor little thing that you call blog has an Alexa rating surpassing that of a mighty network like iToot, It's a reason to celebrate.

The reason why I picked iToot was that I always thought so highly of them. So I was kind of surprised (really) for the results. So I decided to get more from my fellow bloggers and good friends. The results are fantastic. I can't help but feel so proud of the efforts of these amazing bloggers in promoting the Arab culture on the Internet, and standing by worthy causes

(sorry if I missed anyone, this is just a sample)

I was really pleasantly surprised that my Alexa rating for this little hole in the wall has surpassed a mighty network like iToot. It's just fascinating. Totally!

I don't know how exactly did this happen, but I have such a great respect for iToot. Which added to my good feelings quite frankly.

I also went ahead and did a little check for other bloggers and sites and found some interesting information:

    Dude,
I'm sure you are confused deep inside but I will do my best to make things little bit clear to you.

Technically speaking Alexa has nothing to do with blog ranking, they do give rank for web sites as web sites not as web blogs which make big difference.

Not to mentioned that you are including non-blogs sites to measure this rank like itoot.net, Jeeran.com and maktoob.com in short you are comparing different site using irrelevant rank to sort them.

The most important thing is that we do not use Alexa, Google Rank nor Technorati to add blogs but we do have our own ranking system.

The most relevant ranking system to blogs would be Technorati, honestly I wish you have used instead of Alexa at least because that would make your point stronger when using a relevant ranking system to this kind of sites we are talking about which is the blogs.

Lets exam this Hypothetical situation that assume we are using technorati ranking to add blogs or not, I'll use same list but not non-blogs sites (itoot, jeeran, maktoob)

    Sabbah's: 4,537 (4,040 links from 531 blogs)
    Roba:  21,981 (506 links from 149 blogs)
    Jad:  22,896 (2,330 links from 143 blogs)
    Bakkouz: 28,546 (324 links from 115 blogs)
    360East:  34,267 (465 links from 97 blogs)
Black iris: 35,438 (248 links from 94 blogs)
Memories documented: 47,187 (559 links from 71 blogs)

You are the last one between list of blogs YOU have picked to compare yourself with so in this Hypothetical situation you will not make it, I'm sorry :-)
Actually Jad, I'm not confused, blogs are websites too. Correct me if I'm wrong about that.
Alexa is based on the amount of traffic per million clicks, users, page views etc .. It actually provides a very accurate measure at the amount of traffic a specific site.
Now, with Technorati, where they're only measuring the number of links. Which is also another method of just measuring the popularity of a blog.

Anyway, Measuring Apples to Apples, Website to website, Maktoob and Jeeran got tremendous amount of traffic, then comes sabbah. And then my little hole in the wall.

This is not a scheme to get on Toot, or to brag about what I'm doing, I'm just relaxed that 3rd party neutral sites are showing a good measurement compared to really stellar sites, like Yours (masha2allah), Robas, Nas's Ahmads and Sabbah.

Now about me being confused ... yeah .. maybe.. Don't be sorry I'm so open for criticism and fantastic feedback like yours

You mentioned confused twice in your response as if it's the discussion point, please let's forget about it and please accept my apology if it sounded personal

*PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THE ABOVE PARAGRAPH FOR GOD SAKE*

Amount of traffic would never give any clue about the quality of site; you could have linked to interesting Audio or Video file that makes people referring to your blog for long time, that make a traffic but not quality (I AM NOT DISSING  YOUR BLOG QUALITY ELSE I WOULDN'T BE A REGULAR READER, I AM JUST EXPLAINING HOW BOTH TERMS ARE DIFFERENT) the other issue is Alexa's traffic details aren't accurate and not even close.

Blogs are websites too indeed but if we have two ranking system, one do rank blogs and ONLY BLOGS and the other rank any website regardless of the content type or taking some relevant factors to this kind of sites any mature geek would go with the most relevant one.

I would think that many bloggers would agree that Technorati is the most relevant ranking system to blogs, isn't it 7aj ?

AS for measuring factors that Alexa and Technorati exam, actually nobody know them, yes we know about the inbound links from posts and blogs and we know about the traffic that alexa claim it's accurate but the ranking algorithm isn't with us, so we can make assumptions but yet we do not know the facts behind their algorithms.

Another question about the traffic, How many blogs do you have under blog.sweetmemories.com ? you, redrose and ...?
see it's not accurate, you are gaining traffic blogs your blogs is cool, you blog regularly, you have original content but still it's not all yours, I'm sure you have the biggest share but not all of it.

When you do raking you don't measure apple to apple, you should go further and measure red apple with red apple but not green with red and maybe you should add season factor maybe winter, summer etc..

I know and I'm sure that you didn't post this to get yourself in toot and not being on toot doesn't mean you have bad blog, blogs on toot are just our choice based on many factors we do exam but yet we are human.

you know, porno and spam sites have the biggest traffic share but yet they do not qualify :-) * AND BTW I DO NOT MEAN YOU HAVE SIMILAR CONTENT, NO FLAMES!*

I'm not sure if you know this fact, itoot.net is my own babe but I was added only couple of months ago, yes we do have strict rules.

Jad, This blog is anti torture too :)
Why are you shouting man! I get you ... I caught your drift, and If you notice I was celebrating our COMBINED success.. Ya Akhi you don't want to be part of the success.. 3ala ra7tak. I'm not going to force it onto you :)

As for harboring other writers, with a percentage of more than 550 to 50, That's no different than people with single line posts, copy and paste posts .. yada yada yada (not saying that you or any of the above fine ladies and gentlemen are like that), and quite frankly I'm so proud of my work in supporting the Jordanian bloggosphere and people who just need a place to stand, Red Rose, is off on her own now and her blog is doing fantastic on it's own. I feel good that in a way, I might have helped her gain the visibility that she needed. That's all. Would you rather your buddy (Moi) be mean and not allow new comers a chance!? Hell no! Even if this means that I wouldn't qualify for a single network. People come first.. At least in my book

Nevertheless, iToot has failed to capture more clicks than this little blog. I'm not criticizing iToot in anyway I'm just stating some facts. And in That Alexa is not better or worse than Technorati ya 7ajji.
Anyway, good discussion, and I still beat ya in Alexa ranking .. Na nana Na na! :)
I agree with you Qwaider on this one. I think that Alexa can give a good indication. Your blog being ranked on top of Itoot does speak volume. I am sure it is something to be proud of. I would be if my blog achieved that. You don't bother what Jad is saying, and enjoy your blog's success.

And yes, Red Ros is doing a good job on her blog as well :)

    Keep up the good work...

    Congratulations dude..
    i always hated itoot looooooooooooooooooooooool
dont worry about people who try to let you think that you are wrong !!
    actually itoot is the wrong.
jad takes things as personal, i just want to ask him if he is sick or what?
Actually itoot has a bad reputation and is going down ;)

This is a fact, people now are aware of the kind of blogs that's added to itoot, specially the political ones (except for sabbah) the rest are completely biased. That's why toot is going down.

What's the use of beautiful graphical interface while the contents are all about the same ideas ?? It's not working dudes...the project is failing.

Anyway, any blogger with two months experiece in blogging would eventually know what toot is all about and won't visit it.

I myselft rarely visit toot, sorry but my time is precious :D
Abed Hamdan, thank you ,i agree with you,i toot has bad reputation
    and is going down,
    Observer:
Thanks, I'm excited. Jad can't rain on my parade :)

    Jad:
No my friend, I'm not taking it personally at all (and fadi?? He's more mature than that Jad and you know it). I wanted something standard that is common, and since Jordan Planet is dead (and I don't want negative publicity for Jordan blogs) I thought I would measure it against toot
And Sorry Jad, your argument is flawed since BOTH Alexa AND Technorati are not that accurate. But I did beat toot on Alexa and that's what counts to Advertisers (not that I am promoting any of that)
Finally Jad, you know the "Anti torture" campaign and I know you know how the Technocrati rating was affected by the nice 60 or 70 other blogs adding people to their blogrolls. Correct me if I'm wrong
The simple fact that people do view both proves my point

    Picky:
Thanks. But please, Jad is a very good friend of mine. We do compete as any two brothers would but that doesn't mean we call each other names (well we do sometimes :)) No seriously, I would personally appreciate it if you don't attack him personally. He's a great asset to the Jordanian bloggosphere and a really nice guy

    Abed:
Maybe, but this is not a "Lets bash toot" party :).. I'm just stating some interesting facts. That's all

    Iman:
    Check your mail

    Hamede:
Come on, the guys are trying hard. But it's just not that easy. Lets al just cut them some slack. Any good venture will self correct eventually. And I sincerely hope them the best (despite our previous brushes with each other)
dude, you usually bash something that's alive ;)

and If you hope them the best, well I don't! They deserve what they reached, look at the blogs they added from Sudan, iraq, egypt, bla bla  (oh sorry I forgot the title of the party lol)..

mabrook for your ranking! your blog is getting better ! way to go 7ajji! keep it up :D o 3ogbal ma enshoof hal blog 3aroos wet5allef bloggat z'3aar lol
I think what they're trying to do is normalize the Arabic blogs so that they're from everywhere and not necessarily Jordanian. Which is a commendable feet.
I don't hold a grudge, You shouldn't either. Let bygones be bygones.
maho that's my point! the kind of selected "non Jordanian" blogs is disgusting! Their polical bias is exposed! I don't hold anything against them, they don't worth it! I like the design of their portal, nice colors and professional web programming! but when it comes to the content, it's obvious and exposed! the kind of ideas they're marketing is very obvious. U know what I'm talking about...and I don't wanna discuss it now.

    Good work!!
Memories documented has always been an extra ordinary blog and that's a fact so whether Alexa says so or freska 7ata..it's clear..
    Another thing about itooz!!
If they add quality blogs from all over the Arab countries that would be great..but picking a certain stream is just repulsive to me..
And the gang there is simply poor on substance and variable tastes  because of the same point..
but they won't hear us..they just do it their way..well good luck dudes!!
