It's official, Webstats4u have changed their "FREE" model and no longer offer it really for free
My recommendation, Avoid Webstats4U as the plague
Many bloggers have been using this nifty tool for years, but since it was bought by a German online advertising company, they have changed their service to become. EVIL!
I got some complains from my visitors that they've been seeing an "iLead" pop-under pop-up. And that they're finding it annoying. To all of the people who complained. I apologize, and I'm sorry they had to go through that. It wasn't intentional
The problem is, this iLead thing is so evil, it places a cookie on the target computer that expires in 2 days, the result? The site owner don't get them much (because it happens once every couple of days) unless they have cookies blocked in their browser.
It doesn't matter what browser you're using, you will get this nasty pop-up. What's evil about it is that people actually think it's YOU who's doing the pop-ups, not Webstats. So effectively Webstats have found a way to make pop-ups on other people's websites. Pretty evil if you ask me
Therefore, I'm glad to announce, This site is Webstats free. I will not subject my visitors to any of that none-sense. And If you have a blog, website that you own or run, I suggest you do the same
But what are the alternatives you might ask??
I found this other tool that does almost the same job for me, StatCounter.com. At least, they state that they will not do anything like Webstat has done. I guess, that will hold true till they're bought by the next company trying to make a buck!
Memories....
Disable cookies on your browser and give it a shot, you will see it immidiately.
