It's better to light a candle

I took this picture a while ago, I saw it today, and it reminded me that being positive outweighs being negative. If you're upset about something, change it, at least try to change it

Faced with a bing number of frustrations, namely, Toot and JordanPlanet, who just don't wanna play with me, I thought, I would do something better

Give them an outsider's opinion, and this is exactly what they're missing

It's nice and dandy in their little places, while people try, get frustrated, then drop off the map all together, and who do you blame? I don't blame anyone, but I sure like to see people encouraged, patted on the back, given some tips and hints on what to do next, where to go from here.

I happen to be an experienced web-geek kind of a person, but I can just imagine how difficult and frustration it might be for others. And I call to both to please please, extend your hands, help people, let them provide more content, help them to help you back

I have also posted a number of things, one (as many of you reading this remember, the infamous "Shame on you Jordan planet" article, where I complain about mails not answered, forum posts not being looked at ...etc.

As for Toot, I give them two posts, hopefully, they'll find them amusing enough and for everyone a source of a smile, and maybe a little nod

the whole competition is based on the wrong grounds, and here’s why
1) The competition is supposed to be for “the best blogs in the Arab world” and I find that statement extremely exaggerated. Yeah the attempt is there, but I’m not sure it’s true
2) What does “Best design” means? does it mean visually attractive? Contains better organization? More efficient use of screen real state? Runs better technology? Technically superior? Has most original content? Relaxing to the eye? Inspiring? What’s the definition of “Best design” in your view? does it match people’s definition?
3) What about “others” who are not on Toot? What’s the basis of being included on Toot, Content? Value? Appearance? Number of posts? How long you’ve had a blog!!?

I’m not trying to stir up issues here, but usually, a competition has categories and I find this one lacking in that arena.

What I’m seeing is just another “American Idol” vote for popularity competition..

 Something stopped me today while browsing through the “top rated” sites on iToot.
Now The black Iris came at number one, I don’t find that surprising, has tons of content and continuously updated. So it’s only fair enough
But what stopped me was the fact that out of the top 10, 7 were Female (at least, I don’t know sabbah)
Now, considering the fact that the number of blogs on Toot is 120 (I counted them), and that male to female ratio is: 30 to 90 or: 25% to 75% ( I counted some, and I estimated some, and some I was really confused so I counted them as female to better the odds nothing more)

Anyway, if 30% get 70% of the top 10. Then “Houston, We have a problem” … which may or may not be one of the following or a combination

A) Arab female bloggers are stellar, they’re unmatched by even Arab male bloggers. Which is a problem because, it means most Arab male bloggers are dumb!
B) Arab female bloggers get more hits cuz, they’re Female! (in other words, “its hard out there for a pimp”)
C) The voting system is crap! and doesn’t work right

So, everyone, bottom line to you all? If you want to get more votes/hits .. Stick a pretty girl’s face on your blog! The content, doesn’t always matter!
