Ahh, Olive oil, that magical substance. Wars have been fought over it, beauties have indulged thier hair with it. It's even mentioned in the Quran and the Bible... And my reservoir is running low

     Panic button

No no, it's not that "Extra virgin" olive oil stuff you get at the store, this is the real thing, this is Olive oil from my own farm in Jordan, and boy is it blessed

    Olive tree

Not only is it holy, it has been proved scientifically that it's extremely healthy and so good for the heart, brain, hair, nails, colon ... you name it, it's good for it. It has a high concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids the kind that gives you "the good cholesterol". And has high amounts of antioxidants.

The Quran says: "والتين والزيتون وطور سينينBy the fig and the Olive, by Mount Sinai... " (95:1-2)
And says:"يوقد من شجرة مباركة زيتونة لا شرقية ولا غربية يكاد زيتها يضيء ولو لم تمسسه نار ... Lit from a blessed tree, an olive, not eastern nor western, it's oil about to illuminate without the touch of a fire"

    Amzing, just amazing

    Olive trees

Couple of years ago, I had my family ship me a container (Tanakeh) from Jordan, andI haveenjoyed the our own product. Olive oil from my land. Nothing beats that! But too much Msakhan, and too much pickling-hot-peppers (we'll talk about thisone later)caused my stash to evaporate. It'll be weeks before I get more, so I'm going to ration what ever I have left in a very wise manner, mean while... PANIC ... GET SOME OLIVE OIL!

    Mazra3a

These pictures are from our mazra3a in Jordan, take when I visited last January, Enjoy

that's a good thing about living in Jordan you never get your reservoir of olive oil low
    "pickling-hot-peppers", YUCK!

Anyway, maskeen, I feel with you, I love the thing ...
Yep ... as you can see, I've got a bunch of hobbies, and my hot peppers .. are fantastic!
Olive oil absorbes the heat in them and becomes hot-olive-oil ... frying an egg with it makes it taste like heaven :)
You don't get it: I HATE PICKLES!!!
Ahh my friend .... You don't know what you're missing :)

Everything you said up there is completely true. Pickled hot peppers in olive oil rock. Hot peppers and olive oil in general, pickled or not, rock. Olive oil from il-blaad is completely different (and better) than any Italian, Californian, or Spanish olive oil I've ever tasted. And, women who indulge their hair in olive oil are in fact beauties (I just happened to do so 3 days ago so I'm partial to that one). ;)

Hehe! Good luck getting more. One question though - how do you get olive oil shipped to you from Amman? I thought you're not allowed to take liquids with you internationally. How much does it cost to get it shipped?
    Thanks!
Hi Lulu, and welcome. Thank you very much for the nice comment Now, You can have olive oil (Tanakeh) shipped from Amman, you will need to have it sent in a Wooden box, and you must use a shipping agency to ship it for you. It's not allowed on regular flights (as far as I know) The other way that my family has been doing (specifically with my sister in UAE), was to put the contents in a plastic container (Galan), because the customs require that it be transparent to enter. The shipping cost from Amman to Seattle were around 80JD (or $120) so it's not cheap, but frankly, it is well worth it. At the Arabic store over here, we pay, $28 to $30 for that big bottle, and 1 Tanakeh is at least 7 or 8 or those. Anyway, I got off the phone with my folks and they're kind of reluctant to send me another tanakehI'm going to try again tomorrow. I hope I can convince them this time
