But really, why should it matter if someone's blog does not meet whatever criteria a specific 'aggregator site' and as a result does not make the list? Why would it force the future najeeb mahfooz to go into complete isolation putting a halt to what could be a promising future (though I personally cannot see how a blog is indicative of such!)
And exactly who are those big players? If we have confidence in our abilities, then why should it matter if a selected yet random group of people don't seem to 'like' or 'enjoy' what we write? Are we writing to please others or are we writing because we want to write! It's not like those 'big players' are potential publishers who, in their hands, carry the fate of my next possible best seller!
Blogs are just websites set up by average joes the world over, who use it as a medium of communicating a variety of things. It may be their opinion on various socio-political issues, some use it as a public journal others use it to simply share their knowledge with the world (I remember coming across a blog on blogger.com, which only showed a variety of Asian recipes).
This is the internet, not high school. If you want to write about something you write about it no one is going to bully you into not doing so, similarly, if people want to comment on it (as long as you provide them with the means to do so) they will comment on it. Why would anyone care if others like their style of writing or not, (how many people even think of that?) most bloggers write because they want to share something. Those who stop most probably do so because they got bored, found another hobby or just didn't have the time to blog anymore.
There are no "big players" in the blogosphere and there never will be because more and more people are blogging in hundreds of languages, so how can anyone, or any group of people, possibly monopolise it?
I think some people take blogging a little too seriously and should just see a blog for what it really is - just another site in a web of a billion others.
Thank you, and thank you for your continued support
Iman
Sometimes, all it takes is a little encouragement. Nothing more. Many people do have talent and are thwarted by so many rules, and regulations and frustrations.
Sometimes, an aspiring writer will end up discouraged because he might seem some below par writings that make it, while his work (who he/she values) didn't even make it to the cut. This feeling of injustice is something that is worth looking at and these people who are actually gifted, or might be with a little push should be encouraged
We all write and enjoy the interaction more or less. True, it may or may not be the rule with everyone. But people are social animals. And they thrive on the communication they enjoy with others from different walks in life, from different geographical spots. It's just fascinating to see this interaction going on. It's worth encouraging.
Many new people lack the confidence you mentioned. They do have the gift, but it needs time to develop or just a second opinion.
Consider this my little "something" that I am giving back to the bloggosphere.

Thank you for sharing with us your view on the matter. It's interesting to see different points of views on the very same subject. Which is frankly the best thing about this whole thing. If it wasn't the case, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to read your wonderful view, however it may differ from my own. The truth it. Blogging is becoming quite an attraction. More people are pouring into it and it's becoming such a phenomena that it's catching the eyes of media and advertising industry.
If the internet was no High school as you said, consider Qwaider planet, a nursery. A crucible for ideas, and a means to mix and match ideas and people. In an easy to follow up way. You get all the updates you like from one single central location. Now how bad could that be?
Oula
Welcome, you've been added
Your welcome, exchanging views is a delightful experience, such a wonderful miracle this internet is.
The truth it. Blogging is becoming quite an attraction. More people are pouring into it and it's becoming such a phenomena that it's catching the eyes of media and advertising industry.
Right, it is becoming an increasingly popular phenomena and as I already said before more people are blogging, all over the world...
If the internet was no High school as you said, consider Qwaider planet, a nursery.
ok...
A crucible for ideas, and a means to mix and match ideas and people. In an easy to follow up way. You get all the updates you like from one single central location. Now how bad could that be?
It's lovely, but what does all the above have anything to do with what I wrote?
Simply, I do not understand how you can have big players who intimidate others away from blogging?? Anyone who has access to the internet can start up a blog, write whatever they want and "mix and match ideas" with others as much as they want. How can one blogger cause another to "go into isolation"? How can you get isolated on the net?? Doesn't that contradict the purpose and nature of the internet as being a means of communication??
Bloggers vary as do their goals. So if a blogger's goal is to gain exposure he simply participates more in sites where his target audience exist, get himself on people's blogrolls, and basically make his voice heard.
In simple terms, this talk of "big players" and "going into isolation" is over-dramatizing how people interact on the internet. I sincerely doubt people stop blogging because they are intimidated by others - they just become too busy with their lives or just aren't as bothered anymore.
Again, thanks for your wonderful input on this matter. It's much appreciated.
It might be true from your perspective that people can't be intimidated by others, but unfortunately, I've felt so much frustrations from some who found themselves out of the loop when it came to some sites. Trust me there is a lot of history behind this. It didn't happen overnight.
The other issue is that with a specific panel running the show. The general "taste" of these aggregators got too repetitive and boring, and often times taking the same points of views without any healthy discussion around the whole matter.
Finally, Think of them a supporting service, an advertising service, a there's-something-new-on-this-blog-service, without you having to go and install a reader and be restricted to the sites we know. This one will keep having new things every time you come to visit.
This aggregator is there to provide readers with FRESH new posts, and writers with FRESH new set of readers

it's like making a community of "friends", it's not tied to any country, which is good. and It's free from stupid rules and control of some of those whom you described as not that good writers :)

The only thing I would recommend is to change the black background to White or another light color since we really do not need more darkness.
You know, for a long time Bakkouz has been on the underdog list. And he struggled his way to the levels he's at today. He's one of the few people who have new bloggers on his blogroll, and helps out so many.
Yes, he doesn't need any more promotion. But maybe he needs to be there as a reminder for new bloggers that it can be done. And possibly follow in his foot steps
As for the color, that's just a temporary design and 3ala rasi, it will be changed soon to a more suitable color.
What's up with the underdog thing?
Hath ani kalb?
Kidding, can you ebleez provide us with one of those button "I Bower Qweeder Blanet?" lzoom el wajaha
Thanks Quaider for making this happens.
I just want to add my voice to Batir. Lets have a lighter background color with a dark text color.
