It sounds strange? I think it's very distinctive idea that should be applied on many mosques.

There are people stand against this claiming that mosques have to be just a place for worship. Mosque used to be a place where Muslims gather together, discuss important matters ,learning & studying aside from being a place for worship of course.

Prominent mosques like Al-Azhar, Great Mosque of Qayrawan, Cordoba Mosque and others include precious and very valuable libraries rich of many important books and religious resources. Providing mosques with Internet offers the same service in up to date image;by simple click they can navigate and get the required information from the electronic libraries worldwide.

The worshiper could stay for long time at mosque without being attached of the outside life; for instance, he can check important mails and keep running his business. It applies a very important theme of Islam that religion goes along side with life not opposite, so worship does not mean being isolated neglecting other daily activities.

Another point of view I found it false and irrational, claiming that Internet does not keep the purity and honor of the mosques as sacred place. logically, people who came to worship don't have in their mind to check seducing photos or inappropriate web sites.

I think Internet in the Mosque helps to keep the prominent role for it in the society, plus being more familiar to youth.

Even Eid celebrations used to take place inside mosques, including African spear dancing as narrated in the famous hadith of Aysha.

In fact, the prophet -pbuh- used to wrestle with his companions inside the mosque, in a disciplined manner of course.

i can't see why people cannot use the internet as part of the common mosques' mini library.
Exactly Bassem I think we have to be more flexible in dealing with this, otherwise we keep bieng frozen.
    Basem, and Qwaider,

The difference between books and the internet is the content. You need to get a new book into the library to add content, while the whole content of the internet is availble through that one connection.

Not all material on the internet is suitable to be in a mosque.
