It took forever to get IE to move from 6 to 7 ... but it's finally here. The world's most popular browse is shipping..

IE7 comes with some major advances like "Streamlined interface", "Tabbed browsing", printing enhancements, RSS Feeds, instant search capabilities, improved (dare I say it) security and much more.

Microsoft claims that they have listened to their customers but I think they should have said, they have "followed" what customers want. Since Tabbed browsing has been a feature in Opera since 1996 and made popular by Firefox.

I had a chance to run the new browser and frankly, I think it really delivers and scores really high on features, security and SPEED! (it takes less than a second to start IE, and around 4 to 5 seconds to start Firefox on my machine)

Now the bad parts, Firefox 2.0 Beta comes with an IE looking interface, while IE looks like Firefox 1.5 in some ways. It has a problem with Javascript (in tinyMCE), the easy FTP of the older IE is gone and it doesn't have a spell check facility like in Firefox 2.0

But never the less the new/old browser is here to stay, it does a fantastic Job that "could" be better with a little effort and if Microsoft has "really" listened

You can get the free download here
    Get all the features: Here
    And free customer support: Here

Here's what's the media are saying about the new release:

“If you've never used anything but Internet Explorer, you won't be able to wipe the grin off your face.”

                    David Pogue, NY Times

“IE7 is a monumental improvement over IE6 in both security and functionality. [It] is a solid, feature-packed browser that all IE users should flock to immediately.”

                    Paul Thurrott, Windows IT Pro

“I’ve spent the past few days looking at this build of IE7 and can recommend it enthusiastically.”

                    Ed Bott, ZDNet.com

Go ahead, Enjoy! Really rediscover the web :)

FireFox is so over-rated! Many website don't render right on FireFox.

Opera is way better and IE is not bad at all, actually I prefer it the most!

NOte:In order to install IE7 your windows should be legit ;)
I agree with you Firas, Many people seem to hop on the band wagon for no real reason. But change is always good
I'm glad that Firefox gained such appeal to put some pressure on Microsoft to revamp that stagnant IE6.
What we saw with IE and Firefox is the classical case of something reaching the top, and getting shelved into maintenance mode. While customers suffer.
Have you tried live search? It's a wonderful/powerful search engine, and as of recently has been turning better results (IMHO) than the mighty google, who's also falling into the stagnant "#1" position. People will catch up eventually. And produce something that is way better.

I'm glad that Microsoft is trying to improve, but IE7 still has a ways to go before it can claim full standards compliance.

I'm a big Firefox fan.  If a site doesn't render properly in Firefox, chances are that some hack designer didn't build it according to standards.

Firefox is the best, I'm not even thinking of switching, I was an IE7 beta tester. even betas were crap.

    and I agree with dave.
4 to 5 seconds? are you kidding?

I think that both of us know that there's something wrong with your FireFox! :)

It loads in less than a second on my humble machine, with 8 extensions installed. Man, you should have spoken of anything BUT system overhead; no browser on earth is worse than IE in this regard! :D
Ghaith, IE loads part of it in Kernel mode, so it explains it's speed (and security issues)
How about you go and time it ... fresh machine... start both and see for yourself
In fact, it's a well known fact... You can brows the Internet and check

Now, I'm not saying A is better than B ...
Yeah sure, although I already did that a couple of thousand times but I'll do it one more time, just to "make sure" :P

    Have a nice day!
Ghaith, my good friend, here's a little speed comparison chart done independent of Microsoft propaganda machine, that shows what I am talking about..
    http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html#winspeed
Again, speed, policing standards and other factors are good to know, but sometimes taking standards to the letter might be a bad idea.
At the end of the day, everyone need to use the browser they feel is most suitable for their needs. It may be none of the above, it's totally a matter of choice.
I for one am glad IE has tough competition, if anything it makes Microsoft get off their lazy asses and do a better job with the most dominant browser ever created in history.
Yeah I've come across that page some time ago and wondered a bit.

Anyway, I second your opinion considering that selecting the best Internet browser is a matter of personal choice, and I do feel like trying IE7 now you know :D

Nice post, me favors your technical posts Qwaider, please post more! :)
