Memories....
I remember it was almost 4 pm when I heard the news at office , I was shocked and I prayed God it won't be Arabs nor Muslims!
Wallahy 7aram!
I was still a university student back then on my vacation between summer and first semester . On that day , I was supposed to go out with a cousin of mine to visit a exhibition for Emad Hajjaj cartoons , and later that night , I was going to spend the night at her place ( I actually did .. and we stayed all night up talking about the strikes) .. I also remember the "Ya rab mish i7na" part clearly.. And the vast undefined/mixed emotions I had , but mostly .. The shock and disbelief ! then the wild fever of making sure that everyone we know in NY is safe and sound .
One more thing I remember , the 11/9 strikes were the significant date for which afterwards the phrase "fighting terror" was launched , justifying whatsoever actions that may or may not had the least connection to terror .

Briefly: I thought it was Independance day,the movie..and i thought..but i can't recall that scene!!
who benefited from it?? why??
bin laden cannot claim now that he did the arab world or islam any good deed??!!!
cuz he simply didnot...he turned the table on arabs/muslims instead...
my prayers go out for the ppl who lost their loved ones... death is something we should respect regardless of our background or where we come from.
peace!!
fa hala3t ela al telfaz we jalast oshahid
Hmmm first its interesting how we remember what exactly we were doing at the time ( 5 years ago) yet we cannot remember the day before all that clearly or the day after.
for me this marks my growth as a person, at that time I was ignorant enough to be happy about it !! yet now I know better, so I'm happy that this marks one of aspects I grew in as a person. the sad part of that is that I still find people after 5 years still clueless and still not grown an inch.
Nice post.
That's why people remember such incidents ... they don't pass unnoticed in their life
Police were all around us. They just wansted us to go home, to stop bringing attention to this fair that for many years had been so discreet. A friend of mine was stopped and searched, while we were simply walking looking for a place to eat. The locals noticed. We were invited to a house and were given something to eat. Yes, the tv was on and we saw a tower burning, but we talked about the arms fair with this family. They knew about it because leaflets had been delivered to their homes. One from the demonstrators, explaining about this killing machinery being put on a show on their doorsteps. The other one from the police, telling them that on 9 11 their neighbourhood would be visited by potential terrorists meaning the demonstrators, not the potential assasins buying weapons at the fair... as far as I could see, all their locals made their choice. They did help us in all aspect they could. They had not received good treatment from a racist police ... In the evening, we saw the whole story in a pub. But no one was looking by now.
The following day, all commercial activity was stopped in London. Except for the arms fair, which continued for a week not interrupted by the tragedy it had indirectly (or not so indirectly?) caused.
Then a sudden silence in our area, and the sky was so clear and beautiful, now no more planes in the sky (being in the vecinity of a major airport). I was scared that they accuse Muslims or Arabs of doing such a thing, and it didn't take more than 3 hours and we got the confirmation that Arab Muslims did it...and you know the rest of the story...we are always the escape goat for their crimes.
Well, at that time I was working at this publishing company and I was the IT person for all those 450 users, anything to do with their pc or phone I was da man to call. My name was (Killi) don't even ask where I got this name from, anyrates I was very popular and I even used to go the local morning show regulary (www.rickandbubba.com) then on that day the whole building was mute and I was wondering whats wrong, my boss told me to turn on CNN, so I went to the nearest break room and it had about 20 people jammed in there watching the event. They didnt even pay any attention to me coming in the room. Then Everybody was going:" Who would do such a thing?!"
I was THINKING:"Please let them be anyone but Muslims".
Then I screamed:" It's those damn Colombian drug dealers"
LOL
A week ago a huge Colombian cartel was extracted to NY, so I was hoping his group was behind this.
I didnt finish day dreaming yet and here it comes a fotage of Palestinian kids dancing in the streets celebrating.
All the sudden I felt I was in a ZOMBIE MOVIE! everybody started giving me that look, like I was the one behind it all!
I became the most hated employee in the company after I was very likable.
Ofcourse me saying that Muslims dont have the technology to do such operation didn't help my situation either. I was called to a meeting with our CFO and he started asking me political questions, LOL
They didn't fire me at the spot, but waited a couple of weeks later and when they started laying off people I was the first to go with a couple of employees.
I filed an official complaint at the EEOC, but then dropped it cause I don't have the time really, plus I wasn't lookiing for money I wanted to prove to them that they can not mistreat me like that just for being an Arab.
Anyways, I'm glad I'm out of the corporate world, nothing beats small business. LOL
Peace
By the way, that footage (of children dancing), was not really live and was few years old, but CNN "Strategically" injected it in there, (and apologized later)
And yes, call me in denial ... call me conspiracy theory nut... I still believe till this day that what we saw, is not the truth. Those 19 didn't do it. This is way too big and too elaborate for them to make.
From day one it was very clear that WE as Muslims and Arabs didn't do it, I told my fellow employee that, and the reasons why I think so. It took 3 years for my workmates to admit I was right and it is an inside job. They have accepted all what I have said 3 years ago now. Even the FBI they came and ask me as a part of random visits, and I told them exactly what I think, they were quiet about it. Since then, they have not bothered me. The administration’s story is full of big holes more than Swiss cheese that makes Swiss cheese solid.
Our mother countries were so spineless on this issue that it’s pathetic. Imagine the victim believe from the aggressor that he is the aggressor. What kind of stupidity, the Arab rulers are so kiss... that I cannot believe it. And those guys in the US were relying on that. So the whole play was orchestrated like a Hollywood movie (by the way if you see the deadly kiss movie made in 1993, was the exact same scenario). That was the most frustrating part of that incident.
To put it in our own terms, el3arb saro matasseh, kul ma sar shee laza2oo feena. We Arabs, and Muslims in the US are most affected, and we are under the mercy of the media. The media is the real devil here not the American people, the American people are simple, and their problem is that most of them they take their info from the media that is well controlled and have its own hidden agenda. Of course you cannot say any thing without labeling you that you are a believer of the conspiracy theory. So damn if you do and damn if you don’t.
