Today, I decided to go pay the gorgeous and majestic Mount Rainier, unplanned I ended up on the wrong side of the Mountain. But since I love adventure, I pressed forward and ended up 5000ft high on what I can describe as one of the most serene and tranquil places on earth. Mowich Lake, an amazing nature creation, 5000 ft high in the Mt Rainier national park.

I really can't express how excited I was. For a while, I thought being lost means, I wasted couple of hours. But thank god I did not. The trip was fantastic. The amount of fun I had on the trail would have probably been lost if I ended up in one of the more touristic areas like Paradise, or Sunrise. Both are magnet attractions to EVERYONE

What makes this one special is that you REALLY need a 4x4 to get there. It's inaccessibility made it what it is, an oasis of tranquility. I could almost hear my own heart beats. It was so quite that I could hear people talking few hundred feet away. A stone dropping in the lake reverberated and it was amazing!

This is the only time of year that this lake becomes accessible I think, mainly because of the ice, and the rough terrain. I passed by an amazing "Single-lane" bridge, that was so high, It scared the living bejesus out of me, it shook violently when cars passed by, but looked like it was safe, you just have to imagine how much I went out on a limb to take this picture...

I've never seen clearer waters in my life. It was so clear, and the surface disturbed only by the amazing cool breeze. The air was so fresh, that it really defined a new level clear. Truly magnificent

Anyway, enjoy the pictures I took, I had so much fun today and would probably sleep like a baby.

Along the way back my car turned 8888 miles, so I thought I should document the number, pretty neat. (kids, don't try this at home)

Being the scientist at heart that I am, I decided to put an old urban legend to the test. "If you drive faster on rough terrain, the ride becomes smoother". I saw this on "Myth Busters" few weeks ago, but wasn't so convinced. So I tried it ... and to my surprise, faster does mean smoother ride! Amazing!

I passed by these old and forgotten little north western towns, really something. I took a bunch of pictures for those too ... really nice towns.

It seems like a lot of fun, I so need to go to place like that, alone and with no noise it sounds like heaven on earth. And I love the photos they are great, thanks for sharing then with us

You know what came to my mind when I was there? I wanted to have ALL the my blogger friends there with me...
And you all were ... And I couldn't think of a better crowd to have

Although the peace and quite, would shatter because of all the discussions and arguments :)

I echo Rebecca...but a few hundred miles south to the Sierra Nevada mountains where I grew up. Although I have come to love the majesty of the desert, somehow rocky peaks and crytal clear water still are my definition of beauty.

Thanks for sharing it...if there is ever a jp meet-up in the mountains, I promise not to argue!

What can I say .. BEAUTIFULL..

Amazing and serene indeed .. like a sanctuary .. where no one can interrupt .. where no modern days noises can mess with the calmness of that place ..
there is always something about those an accessible places , tucked away from the eyes (in this case hands and legs ) of the crowds ..
well .. you have every right to be happy that you got lost :) ..

and .. I have to say .. that bridge photo .. i7em .. apparently, you do not have a heights-phobia Qwaider ..

I t could work out perfectly as an Escape .. !

glad you had fun, you should do this every weekend..get out of home and go for an aimless or planned ride that will take your breath away by getting to hiddend places..i am sure it will increase appreciation of nature and life.
