Every time someone mentions "Survival of the fittest", I wonder if they're talking about Darwin, or Nietzsche.

If you're unfamiliar with the two, Darwin is the father of the Evolution theory (highly controversial in the religious circles), While Nietzsche, is the modern philosopher who talks about racial superiority. While others believe that Hitler was a direct result of Nietzsche's ideas.

Both challenged Christianity, in it's classical sense, and both were evidently, very smart. So smart to the point that they opened the worlds eyes to a bunch of new ideas, new territories that were taboo. And certainly got the heat for it.

Nietzsche, one of the early "existentialists", was one of the people believing in realities, not fiction, not "ancient books", not religions, but rather facts (do you see traces of his philosophy all around you?). He promoted having honest moments with one's self to examine all the norms and things we take for granted, and viewing them in the light of realities of this world, instead of the world beyond. Interesting concept because, once you remove God and afterlife retribution, you end up with people who are extremely materialistic and hardly have any reason to seek out "good" just for the sake of good.

Nietzsche, also rejects the idea of Universal constants, where morals, truth are all dependant on the observer's reference. Or that even "truth" is relative. In the end, nothing will ever matter (quite depressing if you think of it, billions of years before mankind, and billions after we perish, and we will probably not have any influence on the universe) I think he struggled with this due to lack of faith, since faith (which he objects to as he thinks "God is dead") fills these gaps.

The interesting, "Superhuman" part where only the fittest come in, only the most healthy, strong, educated ...etc should continue to exist, If I understand it correctly. A shocking idea by someone who suffered with health issues all his life. But might explain his longing to be at that "Superhuman" state! He also justifies domination, exploitation and injury to the weak (see examples in the modern world?), and that these "morals" are not worth maintaining in the greater theme of things. Scary stuff, if you look deeply into it. But would explain women exploitation in the west, all the imperialist wars of the past few centuries. When others tried to justify it as "Religious", "Spread democracy" or whatever, he called it with it's name, exploitation is OK in his book! The stronger shall dominate. There is no room for sick, weak humans, and that includes everyone. (Hitler was known to kill mentally challenged and handicapped people to "cleanse" the Aryan make-belief race)

So while Darwin was talking about Species, Natural selection and survival of the species that could adapt better, Nietzsche was talking about humans, and ideas that will flood over everyone and everything.

This is turning into a much longer article than I thought it would be .... so ... to be continued...

Intersting ... I was having a discussion with a friend not very long ago and F.Nietzsche came up... he asks (which is deep to say the very least!): What is it worth for man to find out all truth and not live it? and the only alternative he has is living the ignorant life, depriving himself from the (assumed) natural desire for finding the truth; finding himself.

no, quwaider, he is not missing up any time with me, actually we both give him time, now doubled and that is not what bothers him, i guess he has been like that since he was a baby, he sleeps so little compared to other kids and this has nothing to do with sugar intake, rasha, cuz i tried that too, didnot work, i guess he is hyperactive just like mom and dad...
orders for my son, yeah right!! last thing he would accept, he has his own pride, dear...so i take it easy with him, but i started taking him to the gym and this seems to help a bit, like 15 mnts b4 9pm.... i guess i will have to live with it... thanx all for the tips...
