2D indexing implemented for DBs with 100Milions+ of rows, it is not possible to join them. Msn, google, yahoo does it for log in tables. I think u have 0 D indexing.

P.S: I think u have 0 level indexing :) ! see wikipedia for indexing. 1D enough when have millions of rows. MSN have 2D indexing, they can not get tabled joined with 1D indexing.

Now regarding indexing. I have to admit, I didn't get it the first time, after reading that article I don't think I have in that way. I should probably invest some time into it, but since I'm not a DB guru(my experience and knowledge is rather basic) and I'm still playing around with it (my forte is networking)
Now, I have one table with >600k rows which might benefit from that, but since it's full of IP addresses, I'm not sure how effective that would be (bang-for-the-buck would probably be low)

Baby, if u have 600k rows, it is the time to index. I am not sure if u join tables. If you do, I am sure that ur site will NOT retrieve anything from any table at any day. Once rows reach 1 million in a couple of tables and u do join. The virtual table gonna be 1million * 1million ! ur stored procedures will time out.

Second, the only tables that are joined are Comments, and Articles, everything else is pretty much independent
I don't even use stored procedures :), remember the number of articles is going to get to what, 1000? 10,000? 100,000? That's a lot of articles of which I retrieve 15 excerpts for the main page, and 1 at at time for article reading.
This is not MSN or Google, this is a tiny little blog man :)
With regards to adsense, whilst I do use in on my site I'm thinking of getting rid of it again. It looks fugly no matter what you do to it and unless you drive serious aounts of traffic or dabble in click fraud then the returns don't really justify beating your site with the ugly stick! I think I've been averaging ~$12 every couple of weeks through adsense which, lets face it, is bugger all.
Good luck with running it on your site, but I'd remove your post asking people to click on the ads, it's against Googles T&C's and will see you being black listed.
The 600K row table I was talking about is my antispam system, it's working great so far, and I can't notice any over head (retrieved only when commenting)
