So, I was honored to be asked to be the main photographer in Noor's wedding. Frankly, I got freaked out. I've never done a wedding before, the responsibility is overwhelming to say the least and I seriously stressed out over it.
I stressed out to the point that I got sick. I am the worry-type. I mean, this is a wedding for god's sake.
If it was a birthday, you'd have another one next year. A party, you can throw another one next week. But a wedding is something that lasts a lifetime. And every time you look at the pictures, I don't want someone to curse at the stupid person who took them
Anyway, I drove all the way down to Tacoma, to The Vault, on the 17th floor. Very nice setup.
Noor, in her good heart, sent out "donate-to-Lebanon" little cards in the wedding invitations. Such an amazing thing to do. I was so impressed with the idea. When you don't forget the people in need when you're going through happiness.
Noor arrived with her bride's maids walking on foot, that was hilarious, I had no idea what was going on... Anyway, a bunch of pretty ladies coming from the next block made me run upstairs to grab my camera, It took my by surprise.
So running down I was there just in time to grab a few shots before Noor's eyes started watering. This is the worst time every for spilled out emotions, after the makeup.... oh my god.
So the girls went upstairs, while Noor and mom waited for all of us to get up and expect her.
Eric, the groom, an American Muslim, was dressed in a Palestinian head cover and waiting his bride, the doors opened, and the wedding officially started.
One of the cutest moments, when Eric was struggling with the middle eastern style jewelry, it was so cute and so funny at the same time.
I think everyone had fun, everything was beautiful and memorable. The food was great, and the father of the bride invited everyone to an "after party" the next day wheres stuffed lamb and shish kabobs were going to be served. I just couldn't make it, since I literally had blisters on my fingers from the 1400+ pictures I took. Wow, I haven't taken as much pictures in a single event in my life, and walking around with, 3 pounds of camera, flash and my 24-70mm F2.8. I didn't have time to use my f1.4. Everything was going way too fast for me to stand and take portraits.
I also used my 28-300mm to get some candid shots. Frankly, the pictures look pretty good. Even if I had to eliminate around 500 unsuitable pictures, but that's the whole idea I think. I shot like 4 GB worth of pictures and it was such a huge effort to get them all sorted out.
Congratulations Noor, may all your days be as amazing as your wedding.
Memories....
And Mabrook lal 3irsan
There is no other male blogger in the entire blogosphere who blogs about marriage as much as you do. Man, you should seriously consider the mail-order Russian bride thing and put us as well as yourself out of this misery. PLEASE PLEASE ease up with the damn love and marraige posts, PLEASE.
And because I am an honest person, can I just say? Why, WHY did they hire you to take their wedding pictures? Those pics you posted for us, at least the first two, absolutely SUCK. I sincerely hope that those pictures you decided to post are not the best you have because my little brother can do better than that. There is not one single flatterring picture for the bride. I feel bad for her.
At least post some nice pictures from the 1400+ that you apparently took. You seem to know something about photography. So what the hell were you thinking?
As for me, I'll go back to avoiding this blog.
Aqbal Frhak, God
Congratulations to Nour Lord rejoices heart and happy days
First of all Hal, I don't tell you what you post about.
Second, I wasn't hired, I was asked, against my reservations and objections. And I did voice those concerns. I didn't want to be the wedding photographer. It's just too much responsibility. I updated the post to contain a link for your viewing pleasure. However, I disagree that these pictures suck, after all it's a matter of taste, your little brother appears to be Talented.
Thank you as always for your visit.
To the Imposter "HEADLESS":
This is the rudest comment i've read in my blogging life..
I don't care who u are or what u do,if you were his mom 7ata..u can't be this insensitive.
I went through the whole wedding pictures and guess what,i'm no critic, but he took all those pic, stood on his feet..akeed tired, longing for a rest or maybe he didn't even think that because he wanted to make his friends a great collection..he didn't leave a move,a clap,a turn ,a smile without shooting it..
Being sharp and cruel and can't see beyond our own edgy view is really making life unpleasant..
think..feel..appreciate the simpliest gestures then react..but flipping like that is really devaluing to a friendly willingly effort and to yourself.
There isn't one pic of him..do u know what that means?it means he didn't take any moment of break, imagine how tiring..didn't he want to have fun like every body?mingel, chat, rest his sore neck?
just sense..feel..and aslan who asked for your openion.
* as for talking about love,,see?there is hope that there are some sensitive men around..chill ba2a and dial up humanity !!
this is general..really..people are becoming more arrogant and cruel than ever,,
may allah have mercy on us.
Noor
