Ahhhh I finally made it in one piece ... but my god, it's so crappy to travel these days!

Anticipating the heightened security measures in airports, I decided to arrive 4 hours early. Pretty smart huh? Guss what, I'm not the only smart person out there, EVERYONE was there 3 or 4 hours earlier!

So I go to the long line, only to be told that no, that's not the beginning of the line, and that the line actually begins on the other side of the lobby! I was shocked! That was one hell of a long line

Anyway, I went to they line, and an hour later, sure enough I showed up at the E-Ticketing counter. I was so happy, and therefore, the machine decided to give me a nice little : Contact an Agent message, so what do I do? I contacted an agent. Which told me to contact another agent. When directed me to lift the little phone next to the E-ticketing device and call the help center

So I do, and what does the help center say? TALK TO THE AGENT!

At this point I was already upset, my "smart" scheme to arrive there early has failed and I had no choice but to ask the agent "super gently" because these people are jumpy and I don't want any more trouble! So she point to me to the end of another line and asks me to go there. I was once again raging with anger, and I was like, why did you tell me to talk to the agent, and then to the other agent then?

The passenger next to me told me the flight was cancelled and at that stage, I was like Tom from Tom & Jerry where the top of his head would explode and steam would come out from his ears head and nose. With a big Train "Tooooooot" sound.

Anyway, I swallowed my pride and went and stood in the other VERY long and much slower line!

An Hour and a half later, I got to the counter. The lady looked at my stuff, punched few keys, and then said sorry I have to call this in. I was like.... what's wrong? She said, there's a security match on you! I was like .... WHAT!!!? This is the first time this happens .... EVER! (must have recently said something bad!)

Anyway, it wasn't all that bad, just few millions clicks later and I was happy with a boarding pass. Huh? That thing doesn't look like a boarding pass. So I exclaimed. She looks at me and says, Sorry sir, I can't do seat assignment for you, you have to do it at the gate [probably thinking, IF YOU MAKE IT to the gate and not get arrested!]

I thanked her, and looked at the first agent, thanked her too. And now she was much nicer. I said, everything is fine, my flight wasn't cancelled and everything is going to be alright!

I went through security, shoes off, belt off, hmm coming to think about it, I didn't take my watch off, it weighs a TON! interesting.

Anyway, went to the gate, stood in yet another line for people getting the seat assignments. Gave him the thing that looked like a boarding pass and he said, I'll call you.

At this stage, I said screw it. I'm going to go have some lunch. So I walk to the nearby Burger King and ordered some yummy comfort junk food

I went back and apparently he's been calling my name for a while! I was laughing at this point ... thinking, your turn United!

So I go grab my ticket, and it's a wonderful isle seat ... PERFECT!

And the rest was all good, with the exception of the stupid pilot swerving from one side of the runway to the other and pushing break way too often!

Got lost getting out of the goddamn airport onto the stupid toll ways that they have here (We have no Toll ways in Washington state) anyway, 2 hours later, I arrive at the hotel, after making a little detour to White Castle for some of the BEST BURGERS ON EARTH!

Welcome to the Great Midwest!  Yep, the humidity is definitely a killer in these parts and probably hit you like a ton of bricks as soon as you stepped outside of the terminal.  Sounds like you flew into O'Scare....I mean O'Hare.  :-)

And White Castle...you gotta be kidding...been there once and ordered water.

Will you have time for sightseeing?
No, but if I get some time, I would want to meet a bunch of people around here (fellow bloggers) and some extended family! I guess if you check, you'll end up finding a ton of relatives here!
I'm just too spoiled by the Pacific Northwest. It's seriously amazing to live there. It's never too cold, its never too hot, and the temperature variation is so mild. (can't say the same about Chicago, last time I was here in March, it was FREEEEEEEEEEEEEZING!!!!!) And they tell me that is nothing compared to winter!

Welcome to Chicago-land!Maybe ya'll should've planned a Mid-West JP meet-up at Lou Malnoti's! Hope you can get some good deep-dish pizza and catch the Tut exhibit. I loved the West Coast (native Cali girl)but love Illinois living for raising kids - almost as much as Amman!
Welcome to Chicago!! my kinda town..although i live in the west suburbs but i like the city..nothing is wrong with the weather here, we love it..so quit complaining about our humidity in the summertime and our freezing winters/springs...it is you either love it or hate it...for us,midwesterns,we like to accept it and live with it. we are pros at it. what more can you ask for to live and see the four seasons all in one or two days? it is a blessing! :)one suggestion for next time travels, maybe you should have rented a car with a navigator in it so you wont get lost, those things are great and you can get anywhere without getting lost...especially in Chicago and the surrounding areas.
i am not going to comment about you meeting with fellow bloggers..because i was not invited!!! THANKS! :(
i am sorry about your horrible experience boarding your flight, i am so afraid of traveling anywhere because of the security mesureas and i cannot board any flight without my hand cream!!!
i cannot even bare the thought! enjoy your stay and make sure that you go and visit the Millennium park.
Trust me, I have GPS physically hooked up to my brains now. I prefer to use my phone with my bluetooth GPS receiver. While listening to MazajFM ;-)
I discovered out of experience that these postage stamp screens are not really all that great for navigation.
Don't tell me you like the weather in Chicago no one does, not even Chicago natives! Everyone is complaining to me all the time!
You are wrong..i like the weather here..as long as you live in a controlled environment, its ok...but nice to have change in the weather..although the winters seems long. but if i had the choice to be living here forever or Beirut, i would choose Beirut of course..just for the mild winters. enjoy your day!
Best burgers on earth eh? well i hope they were worth it =p
Summer, today's weather, HOT , HUMID and Raining. how much worse can it get! Get real, and come visit the pacific northwest to see how AMAZIGN the weather is over there! This weather makes Seattle so called "Rain" feel like a walk in the park!

Bakkouz, Wish you ware with me bro
Sorry Kinzi, your comment was lost in the spam folder, due to an error in your email address (it had a trailing "." ) which caused it to look like spam.
Yeah, I'll try the deep dish, and try my best to check out King Tut.
    Thanks again
hot, rainy and humid makes you appreciate and look forward to the nice weather that is coming up Sunday night, it should clear up and get nice inshallah!! i glad that you are happy in the NW..for sure one day i will come and visit..maybe i will like it too much and decide to move there too!! it is all about accepting and having a good attitude about any situation.good weather, bad weather..you just have a good outlook and you are fine.you know what i mean.
As for King Tut exhibition, you should have gotten tickets to it ahead of time, usually events like this are fully booked in advance..but good luck trying to get it. maybe it is easier to go and see it in Egypt when it finishes up its tour.
where did you go so far? what did you see from Chicago? or are you stuck in the south suburbs? take care and waiting to hear from you about your Chicago adventure!
    inta f sheeka'3ooh yaba?? lol ;)

yeah summer, this navigator is really cool, it tells u the way step by step and mapquest is not always right or accurate...i loved it when i went to universal studios... never thought i would drive all the way there, but with it i did it, i guess i will consider buying one for my car now...it helps alot especially if u r new to the neighborhood...
أتمنى لك جولة رائعة والكثير من المغامرات

وأرجو زيارتك لمصر لترى الملك توت الذى لم يحالفك الحظ لرؤية معرضة

Summer, thank you, I was around, but due to limitations in schedule, I didn't get to see much
    Afaf, yes, that's so true
    ايمان: انشاءاالله سأزور مصر قريبا
