Just like in Business Administration. The degree means nothing if the person doesn't have the passion and the will to succeed and be something. Just look at the thousands of failed businesses who were created by BA graduates that FAILED miserably. Having the education helps, A LOT. But does not guarantee success.

Now I know, I sound like someone who dropped out of high school and trying to justify how this is great. But the fact is not. I didn't drop out and I fulfilled (and still fulfilling) the educational "dream!". But out of experience I can say, a degree is no guarantee for anything. It's sad to see businesses limiting their employment pool to a only those that have specific degrees.

Chances are, those who have those degrees are probably not interested in your job. Seriously, when the whole economy tanked, few areas remained in demand and IT and software development are couple of those areas.

Let me be honest here, a monkey can do this work. A talented monkey will know how to run computers of the modern age. It's no longer a PHD challenge to make the computer "work". You don't need to understand how things work to make them work. Computers are starting to reach that point and they will continue to get easier and more transparent that I predict in the future computers will not even be thought of as a helper but as an interface to the rest of the world. A transparent window. Maintaining it and keeping it going is becoming easier and simpler and again, I predict that it will be able to self sustain and self heal soon.

For now, I'll just continue to laugh hysterically every time I get one of these. One day when I create my own company, I hope I look back and educate whoever taking care of HR that it's the people that count. Not the degrees. Not those empty, pale, framed things that people so proudly show off knowing completely in their heart of hearts that they didn't earn them.
