When living in a society, your success is dependent on what others: think:

    1. Think of you. Not what you think of yourself
    2. Think you can do. Not what you can actually do

It's all about perception. Not really about your actual abilities.

Would you trust a mechanic that looks like a doctor? Perhaps, but you probably would rather go to the one drenched in grease and looks like he's been down and dirty with a few cars.

On the flip side, you probably wouldn't trust a doctor that looks like a butcher!

So perception, is everything. Not not that. But precipitated perception (AKA reputation) is as important as any degree you can ever achieve.

Now turn around, look around you and think. What's people's view of me? What's their perception and precipitated perception of me? How can I use that to my advantage?

If there is anything the life of politicians and celebrities could teach you it would be, "Success is dependent on what others think of you".

I know this goes in contrast of "Actions speak louder than words" but ...

    1. Actions take time
    2. Actions require the minimum level of trust to even be allowed to do them
    3. It's easier to screw up in the Actions department

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you need both. Actions and a solidified perception that allows you to be all you can be.
