Time to ditch your DSLR

If you could carry around a camera that would fit in your shirt pocket, takes fantastic pictures day or night and can be out of the pocket and snapping 15 pictures in under 5 seconds. Then you have a killer camera.

If you can add interchangeable lenses (that don't break the bank) and still maintain the weight under 300 grams. That would make your camera even better!

If you can add on top of that HD Video, with ultra high sensitive ISO for taking pictures in extreme low light conditions with reasonable amount of noise. Then you have a gem!

Unfortunately, these features, don't exist in any compact camera. You can find them on the bulky and heavy DSLRs but forget about weight.

These cameras (and accessories) are so damn huge, they often require a full dedicated bag just to lug them around.

Seriously, if you're not that serious about photography. Then don't buy a DSLR. I mean it!

If you're a mother who wants to take pictures of her baby, DSLRs are the last thing you need. Your life is hectic enough without the added mess (and weight) of the DSLRs. The results, are often marginally better than a reasonable $100 camera! I swear!

DSLRs are popular, they will continue to be so for a while. But not for a very long time. Once a company like Apple brings the high end camera market what apple did to the Cell phone market. It will soon be game over for the record sales of DSLRs.

Don't get me wrong, DSLRs will never be gone, but they will nestle themselves in the same niche they used to occupy before this boom, back in the hands of seriously well paid professionals who make a living out of them.

Even those, will probably be challenged by decent, advanced and pretty easy to use point-and-shoot cameras held by a mommy with one hand along with a bottle, and a baby on the other arm with a diaper in the hand.
