I'm not a twitterholic! Although, due to my recent interest in developing applications for the new and insanely growing platform, some people might actually think that I am!

    I am not!

In fact, for the longest period of time, I thought of twitter as stupid and a complete waste of web-space and time... until I discovered the first 'legit' useful use for twitter... Especially if you live far from friends and family... Here's how Twitter can actually help you and be useful.

If you live in a country like the United states, you will know that the SMS (Or Short messaging service, AKA TXT messaging) is pricey. In fact, if you send me an SMS, it will cost me about 20 cents and I'm only RECIEVING it (and I have unlimited SMS!). So as you can see, these can add up since most SMS don't stop at 1 or 2 messages. At the end of the month your bill can be seriously significant! Especially when your bill is ALREADY way up there due to all the minutes and other charges

Enter the age of Twitter, where you're able to send TXT messages using your DATA plan, and for free. For all practical purposes, Twitter messages are just as good, cost NOTHING if you already have a data plan, and here's the cool part, there's are TONS of twitter applications out there for use on your phone, most are free!

    Here's how it works...

You get yourself a free Twitter account, invite all your friends and family, then you start following them. You can send public messages to all of your followers, or you can send private messages to one of them. Just like you would do with SMS. However, Twitter costs you NOTHING!

Unless you're a celebrity, Twitter is completely irrelevant. Most people use it as a step to do something else. But now that you can use it on ANY PHONE, ANYWHERE in the world. You can cut your phone SMS expenses and just rely on Twitter to deliver all your short messages to all your friends.

Same thing can be done with Facebook, MSN whatever and now Google Buzz. However, Twitter, appears to be the only one with enough momentum to actually displace the pricey SMS industry from it's throne and get people to really communicate freely with Short messages.

You can follow me @Qwaider, chances are this would be the best way to get in touch with me, and soon, with anyone else in the world
