I think being an on-call doctor is a must referring to the conditions of the sick people he is treating!  It would be unfortunate if he wasn’t that kind!

Some people have negative reactions upon first hearing the term.  But you'll never meet a group of people more caring and commited to their patients.  Those who research it are even more committed.  The failures are numerous, but benefits are infinite.
