I know it's healthier, cleaner and is recommended by the world health organization.

I know it stems from religion

I support it and would recommend it to everyone...

But there's nothing that would make me cringe more than the traumatic experience of a baby who's going through circumcision. After watching it on Zavaine's show. I started to wish I never did!

It's unknown when did humans started circumcising the males, or why. But it is pretty well documented that Abraham (Ibrahim), roughly 11,000 years ago (more or less, depending on your interpretation) was the first to be ordered by god to get circumcised

Apparently, the painful and extremely traumatic experience has not left the human race since them. I witnessed my first on TV the other day, and it totally broke my heart! The poor baby was flinching, shaking and rapidly breathing. The screams were deafening with pain that smashed through the TV screen and got embedded into my soul...

I'm never going to forget that baby...

If you're wondering. The baby is fine, nothing more than a little skin was removed in that process. But I just can't take that picture out of my mind.

And I was told, I had to go through that twice!

No wonder I hate doctors, dentists, white coats, and the smell of hospitals...

Luckily, in these modern days, there appears to be a number of painless procedures that help make this whole traumatic experience, a little less painful. Thanks to modern day technology.

I still can't understand how the parents had the heart to hold that baby still like that... the horror!

Oh well, happy Eid to all, after all, this Eid celebrates another ritual also by Ibrahim, sacrificing his own son for the sake of God...

Why can't everyone wait, and let boys decide for themselves if they want to be circumcised or not?

The Qur'an doesn't mention circumcision, but does say this:

He created everything in exact measure; He precisely designed everything.
(25:2)

He designed you, and designed you well.
(40:64)

He created the heavens and the earth for a specific purpose, designed you and perfected your design.
(64:3)

He created man in the best design.
(95:4)

Im 28 and was circumcised earlier this year, it wasn't that painful, just a little discomfort

Not only circumcision is painful and traumatic for a newborn but there's 0 advantages and no, it's not cleaner or whatever. It's a procedure that was introduces 200 years ago in US to prevent masturbation and was supposed to harm children. It has nothing to do with hygiene, "health reasons" have been created to justify the procedure. It also damages permamently the penis by removing 20,000 nerve endings. The foreskin isn't a birth defect. It's natural and healthy tissues that protects the glans and keep it sensitive. Most US people have been manipulated into thinking all sorts of myths and phobia about the foreskin.

At least two-thirds of the men in the world are not-circumcised and enjoy very good health. No national medical association in the world recommends it. The Royal Australasian (Australia and New Zealand) College of Physicians says:
"... ethical concerns have focused on recognition of the functional role of the foreskin, the non-therapeutic nature of the operation, and the psychological distress felt by some adult males circumcised as infants. The possibility that routine circumcision contravenes human rights has been raised because circumcision is performed on a minor for non-clinical reasons, and is potentially without net clinical benefit for the child. ... the RACP does not recommend that routine circumcision in infancy be performed, ... One reasonable option is for routine circumcision to be delayed until males are old enough to make an informed choice." Circumcision was common in Australia and New Zealand in the mid-20th century but since it was found to do no good, it is now uncommon in Australia and almost unknown in New Zealand.

Circumcision is not mentioned in the Qu'ran and a small but growing number of Muslims are standing up against it.
