Female Saudi Journalist gets 60 Lashes!

Outrageous! A part time Saudi journalist gets 60 lashes for "suspecting" that she has something to do with an interview with a Saudi male who publicly boasted sexual "adventures".

[the dude got 5 years in imprisonment and 1000 lashes] Which I'm unsympathetic towards. But what have the lady journalist done to be punished!? [full story]

Look folks, I'm a guy. I have many male friends. Many of them happen to be Saudi nationals from Saudi. I swear to everything I have holy, that I not a single setting passed without me hearing about their sexual adventures. Don't believe me? ASK ANY SAUDI GUY YOU KNOW. In most cases they would be happy to share such information with you.
[Disclaimer: Not ALL Saudi guys are like that. Also, 99% of the stories are nonsense, but they boast these fictional adventures anyway]

Not only that, but Saudi in general is not a safe place for young kids to wander out alone. Ask anyone in Saudi. Kids could, and often get kidnapped sometimes right outside of their own homes. Some guys boasted sexual experiences with children! Crap like that happens EVERYDAY in Saudi.

Women abuse happens everyday in Saudi, in all possible ways. So how come when some station [half owned by Saudi prince] merely interviews a guy gets blamed for EXPOSING THE TRUTH! They didn't fabricate things.

Shouldn't the ones covering up all of this get publicly flogged instead?

But I bet these people are accomplices to the crimes and benefiting from keeping them out of the eye of the public. These people need to be tried and thrown in jail for their accessory to commit heinous crimes against the whole society.

Denying the problem, is probably the worst thing ever. Since it prevents any attempt by anyone to make any progress.

Isn't it about time to wake up from the middle ages and join the rest of the 21st century without boasting being the best nation on the face of this planet. Cause honestly, it couldn't be farther from it!

You wanna know what the saddest part is? The journalist Rozanna al-Yami, decided not to appeal on fear, that she will get harsher sentence! Wonderful justice!

    Modern equality:

SHE:      60 lashes            0 days in jail
HE:   1000 lashes    1,825 days in jail

I bet her lashes weren't on exposed skin. I also bet they weren't delivered harshly.

I bet his lashes WERE on his stripped body...and VERY harshly delivered.

Yet all the fuss is about HER travails. Who cares about the guy?

    Such passes for feminist "fairness."

    Shlomo
But he DID something. She didn't do anything! Where is the fairness in punishing her for NOTHING she's done?
It's not like they equally boasted about their sexual life or anything. Do you see my point?
As I said, I'm unsympathetic to the guy. He deserves it for kissing and telling :)

    Kinzi
I hear you. What they really need is reform. I know their hearts are in the right place but how they interpret the law, Shariah or Islam completely puzzles me

    KJ
Who knows! It's not like prisoners there have many rights or can interact and mingle much! Which might be the best thing that happened to him

like younis shalabi once said" ana ashtaghal ay shoghlana sharifa bas ma atmeskesh

what i mean to say this mazen, ahbal, his stupidity lead him to be imprisoned and lashed..he is guilty yes..but he didn't rape any of the women,he just said it out loud that he had sexual intercourse with them, something others do but preach about being honest, faithful and devout, while where no one can see or know they do worse.as you said there are pedophiles, rapists, and traffickers.

now the woman i have no idea about her and why she was lashed.but recently,we are witnessing a lot of male "remember we are here women and we wont allow you to breath just a reminder"thing like the sudanese woman who was lashed for wearing a trousers..

so what will we hear next?

I think, I'm entitled to sympathize or not with anyone.

He did something, and boasted it knowing that it's against the law of the country. While in her case, she did nothing wrong. They're not the same thing
