It's never a good time

There are so many things that we put off until it's "time". When in fact, there is never a good time to do these things

Take for example taking a vacation. Do you think there is ever a good time for someone to take some time off? From business point of view, there never is!

Same goes for having kids, there is never a good time to have them. We're either busy with our careers, or making money to support them, or waiting for the next summer to travel, or still too young, too old, too poor, too busy ... [fill in your futile excuse here]

All of this makes me wonder, when is it EVER a good time to do anything?

Once you're done with school, life appears to just kick into high gear. You just want to hit your milestones, finish your work assignments and live life. There is never a good time to slow down, and think of what you really want to do to enjoy life.

Quite frankly, I think our parents and their parents before them, had it much easier than we do. They had the support of the whole social system to push them to hit social milestones, instead of focusing too much on the professional milestones instead, putting everything at the back burner... indefinitely.

Just think, when is it a good time to have kids? When is it a good time to go on a vacation? When is it suitable to go after that degree you've been dreaming of? When is it a good time to hit the gym to lose those pounds you have accumulated over the years? When is it a good time to go and venture out on your own the way you always wanted to when you ... still had dreams?

Faced with all these "postponed" dreams, it might be a good idea to "just do it". Don't worry about anything and just go for it, fulfill your dream, worry a tiny little bit on how you're going to arrange things, but focus more on fulfilling these dreams. Then just do them, don't look back. Don't waste your time!

Good luck! I have Diem to carpe too :) [Carpe diem: Seize the moment]

Yes, you have to force yourself to do a lot of things, at first it's very difficult and then it becomes easier and then you actually crave them, that's how my need for travel started. I think baby steps towards anything is the best and just keep reminding yourself of what you need to do.

and I agree, you have to MAKE time, otherwise you'll be stuck in a loophole.

And what good is the money when you're old and wrinkly and can no longer do anything that you set out to get the money for in the first place?
Also, wouldn't it be a great investment in your future when you spend your money getting that degree which might earn you more money anyway?

Along the path of life, we tend to lose our heading quite often. We forget what really really counts
