Great experience at the drive-in cinema

Last night was a night to remember!

It's been over 25 years since I last went to a drive through, I remember it so vividly as it was one of the greatest nights ever.

We were still living in Kuwait, when my folks took the whole family to a drive-in cinema, and we watched a movie from the comfort of my father's car. I can never forget that night. Sadly, there were no drive-in cinema's in Amman, and people who lived in other areas in the Gulf had too many restrictions on cinemas. All of this and financial factors rendered the drive-in experience of Kuwait a unique example in the middle east.

Last night, we had the same awe-inspiring experience. We went to a drive-in cinema, a relic of the 60's and the 70s and we watched triple features. UP, Night at the museum and Terminator. You cannot believe how wonderful that was! It was a ton of fun and excitement!

The Sun-bleached pastele colors of the place added a 60's hue to everything. I really felt like we were going back in time. To simpler and more optimestic moments in the 20th century. Places we've seen, but never actually lived in. It was a time of romance, a time of optimism, and the time of drive-in/drive-thru everything. From burger joints to cinemas

The expderience was trully worth it. We paid $8.50 a person, a price that appear to have been frozen in time, and we got to watch 3 movies. Now that is something. Unfortunately, Seattle is located so far high up in latitude, it has to be past 9:30 PM for the Sun to set. Then even after that, it will still be quite bright until 10 or so. I expect it to get worse from now till June 21st.

It was like a huge carnival. Families packing their sleeping bags, comfy seats, blankets, pillows, home cooked spaghetti with meat balls, their own water cooler, their own thermus for hot drinks. It's like camping out, only, you get to watch movies while doing it.

During intermission, kids and families would go out, play some ball on the HUGE lot, it was something to really look at and admire. Especially when it brings back such amazingly great memories like I had when I was a kid.

This is not going to be our last visit, but it sure overdosed us on feel-good, and brought back fond memories of our long forgotten childhood.

Long live drive-ins. Although, I know they're a relic of the past, and will likely not survive long enough for our kids to share similar experiences with their own kids

Seems like a lot of fun! We had a "rooftop" cinema here in winter, but I don't think they'd do this drive through thing any time soon

Sounds like so much fun. The first movie I ever saw at a theater, E.T., was at a drive-in.

Sadly people in Jordan don't know what I'm talking about. Even worse, I think we're the last generation to experience these nostalgic relics of the past.
