The success of blogs is undeniable. It's so widespread and overwhelming that advertising has taken an interesting twist on ways to promote their products through, yes, blogs.

Here's an example of how this industry is thriving:

"I lost 47 pounds using FREE products"

Of course, anyone who claims miraculous results, and if anything sounds too good to be true. It usually is (too good to be true = false)

The first time I saw this form of advertising, it was about two free products that turns your yellow/brown teeth to pearl white in a week. I read the whole "post" only to discover it's one of those marketing blogs trying to appear as a considerate courteous blogger who is "sharing their experience"

Here are ways to avoid being fooled

    1. Naming any specific brand, or linking to a specific company
    2. Comments are closed
    3. Comments are from shady people (all, or mostly in raving over the product)
    4. Comments that include details about the companies and how fantastic they are
    5. Companies that insist on having your credit card information (for a free trial?)
    6. Free trials that have excessive Shipping and handling fees. (A full month supply, a $144 value, yours only for the price of shipping and handling, of $14.99) (Think about it, 30 pills, 2 grams each for $144. That's more expensive than cocaine!) ...[just guessing]
    7. Weight loss products:
      1. Nothing works (except diet, excessive, and surgery)
      2. If it's easy, it doesn't work
      3. Laxatives do more harm than good
      4. Colon cleansing is exactly like laxatives
      5. You can't urinate/defecate FAT. (Wouldn't that be amazing?)
      6. Colon absorbs INTO the body, and not a two way stream
      7. The "BEST OF THE BEST" energy boosting product with metabolism supercharging, and core temperature crap can increase your metabolism by 70 to 100 calories per day. (That's LESS THAN ONE TOAST).
      8. Appetite inhibitors are Dieting. Mostly placebo effect. They lose effectiveness after a week of use. You go back WORSE
      9. Extra vitamins work great, but these don't make you lose weight, or curb your appetite. Weight doesn't come from Vitamins, it comes from Fat (direct, or indirect)
      10. Atkins, South-beach, juicing ...etc all WORK by making you SICK. If you eat nothing by meat, YOU WILL DIE. People lose weight because they are making themselves SICK!
    8. Teeth bleaching products
      1. Nothing works overnight! (Don't believe this crap)
      2. It takes TIME
      3. Some teeth are NATURALLY yellow
      4. Certain medications causes teeth yellowing
      5. Certain illnesses can cause teeth yellowing
      6. Most products ARE NOT SAFE. (If it says safe for pregnant women on the box, then consider it safe, but they don't)
      7. Urine can bleach your teeth (that is true, yuck!) Because it contains Ammonia!
      8. Ammonia can bleach your teeth (and kill you)
      9. Ultra violate light is harmful and can cause cancer. (Especially in areas like the mouth that doesn't have protection like the Skin does)
      10. Consult your dentist, who will probably advise a deep clean procedure. That WORKS. Then BRUSH BRUSH BRUSH (especially after, Tea, Coffee, Chocolate, Candy, color added products)
    9. Hair growth products
      1. If hair can "regrow", then hair transplant surgery WOULD NEVER EXIST!
      2. Most products work on nurturing hair more. Would work for people who don't follow good hair care habits
      3. Hair can thin while being completely healthy. Don't got bold over it
      4. Some hair products can accelerate the process. (Good luck explaining that, when the answer is simply, "it was going to go away anyway, we DELAYED it")
      5. Don't over shampoo. Wash your hair two or three times a week. More is less! (if you have to shower every day, wash it with very light, baby hair shampoo)
      6. If you are destined to be bald (look at your father, uncles), then save for a hair transplant. Don't waste your time on products.
      7. Fake hair spray is creepy!
      8. Hair health comes from within (not from the outside). Eat healthy and have plenty of vitamins.

I wonder what's next. Fake Twitter users? Fake Facebook accounts? Just don't be fooled!
