Rated 4.6/5 stars (68 votes cast) Thanks for your vote!

If there is one prequel, in existence that you would watch (outside of the Star Wars prequels) this is certainly it. J.J. Abrams scores top marks for his amazing work on the upcoming Star Trek movie in any and ALL categories you can imagine.

From being faithful to the legacy of Star Trek, to the intricate and masterful work of the makeup artists. Everything was choreographed in one perfect symphony of masterful direction under Abrams. It's beyond explanation. It's something you have to witness with your own eyes to believe... Yeah ... It's that good.

Even the goddamn movie poster is out of this world.

The Music was epic, the story, the casting, the effects, the technology, even the bad dude was super bad. Bad(dest) in Star Trek history. Yeah, and more hair rising than Khan!

The casting job was super, by every possible stretch of the imagination. The actors were perfect substitutes to the Star Trek Original Series. A couple even better than the originals. The music was awe inspiring, not only relevant and heart pumping. It was subliminal, and out of the way. But there! Doing it's perfect job dramatizing the whole experience.

    Wow!

Prequels need to not only lay the ground for the story, but they need to absolutely top it in every possible way. Let me say this from a frustrated follower of the "Star Trek Enterprise"; you just can't be any LESS cool than the original that was made 40 years ago. You just can't! The minute you do that, is the exact minute people start switching their TV's, attention and money from your franchise!

Call it an alternate reality, call it a warped time line, call it whatever you want. It will be much easier to ask fans to overlook that your new -em old- space ship is way more advanced and has a TON more weapons that the latest and greatest one in the future. Than trying to explain why would someone look for digital information under a Microscope NOW? (Let alone few hundred years into the future). What? No decent phasers? No Teleportation devices? No "what makes star trek STAR TREK"? That's why Enterprise failed. But where Enterprise couldn't boldly go, JJ Abrams was beaming and breaking all warp barriers.

The depiction of teleportation is now much cooler (but slower, since you know, this is older technology) but it's still awesome! Let alone the warp action. But the best touch by Abrams on the original Phasers was the cool dual action flipping phaser gun that shoots pulses and not those stupid since lab steady lasers. Yep, those are no more! At least not in Abrams version.

Simon Pegg, the fantastic British Actor, producer and director delivers a stellar performance as Scotty! While Zachary Quinto (yes, Syler from Heroes) delivers a killer Spock. They are both outstanding. But to tell you the truth, every single character did the very best there is. The performances were spectacular.

The movie was going at a very entertaining pace, with ample time for character development which came in handy to bridge the original character with the new face. A masterful decision by Abrams I'm sure. But perfectly well played to the advantage of the dramatic climax of this whole piece of art.

This movie is a Must see for every trekkie (hear that King Abdullah?) and even non-trekkies would most likely enjoy every single moment since it doesn't require prior knowledge of anything. It builds right from the ground up.

Totally deserving my 10/10 on the Qwaider Scale seal. Opens everywhere May 8th.

I never understood America's obsession with this or star bores, but I might give this a try assuming they didn't put all the good scenes in the trailer.

Mmmmmmmm I will reserve judgment until I see it. I am not expecting much. Lots of eye candy and little meaty plot. But I may be pleasantly surprised.
