Oh my god, this a better UI than any released OS out there ... Just give it a spin. It's free (if you have the hardware to support it, and chances are, you already do)

    Go ahead, check it out

Now, don't you wish your real life was as organized like that?

They're planning an OSX and Linux release!

Speaking of OSX. My sources in Cupertino tell me that Apple (Public, NASDAQ:AAPL) is gearing up to go to war over the desktop with an -official- release of OSX for PCs. As a direct competitor to Windows and the release date is going to be around the same (or slightly before the release of Microsoft's (Public, NASDAQ:MSFT) highly anticipated upcoming Windows 7).

This comes as no surprise since many have already been -unofficially- running OSX on their PCs. But after the total failure of Linux (and co) in gaining any ground in the desktop world (in fact, it's been declining)

It's going to be so exciting to see the two dinosaurs fight!

Hmm .. this BumpTop seems cool, but i don't see it useful yet. It seems cleaner/easier to see if the desktop was just a 2D piece rather than a 3D collection of piles and walls .. i.e. who would want to search through a pile of files on their real desk, and on their computer desktop ? .. Nonetheless, this does seem like a cool piece of technology .. i don't know if i'd use it though. (I personally have as little files as possible on my desktop .. 2-3 icons most of the time).

As for Mac OS (OSX is just version #10) moving to non-Apple PCs .. this seems interesting ... i still have a hard time convincing myself to move to the Mac world yet (i've recently declined taking a new Mac machine from my boss).

I am going to bypass your little swipe on Linux :-p .. not in the mood for a flame war now :-)

Za3tar, I'm using it and it's really nice, and very responsive and fast on my laptop. It works really well, and I highly recommend it.

For OSX, just wait and see :)

As for Linux, you know it's true. Couple of years ago they were starting to find a foothold in sub $400 laptops, now, they're almost all exclusively windows. And I've been in touch with couple of hardware vendors and they're super excited about the upcoming Windows 7 (because they can still sell the same hardware they have invested in and it's already compatible and working well)

Anyway, if all Linux enthusiasts leave emotions aside, they would know that desktop-round2 has been lost again to windows (and MacOSX). I'm sure there will be round 3 soon. But this was such a lost opportunity because of Vista.  Windows 7 is going to be one really tough one to beat! Especially in these hard economic times when little linux with little profit margins is suffering (as is the case with all open source)

I actually haven't made any predictions on Mac OS vs Windows .. i am not taking sides on this one, both have their advantages (so there is nothing in my previous statement that time would prove wrong because i haven't claimed anything :-p).

I think i am a mild Linux supporter. That is, I like linux and use it everyday, but i have nothing personal against Windows or Mac OS .. they are both fine operating systems. I don't think that i've ever made the statement that "this operating system sucks" .. each OS has its advantages and to each his own :-)

LOL, that will be fun to watch, Apple treading in PC territory. I doubt it will go anywhere beyond the gearheads. Most people who run PCs can barely turn them on. Maybe that's why Linux is weakening. Not enough gearheads.
