2012: Would you really want to know?

Some are saying the end is nigh, and the due date is sometime in 2012. Some claim the Mayan civilization have foreseen the future and based on their calendar 2012 is the year. Similar ominous prediction was made by Nostradamus.

Many others said the end is near more than once in the past. Dates have come and gone, (remember 1999/2000?) These massive hallucinations/Panic have happened several times past. But we're still here...

The question that comes to mind, would you really want to know?

Perhaps it is better not knowing. It would be so horrible knowing the due date when our lives, and everything we know will expire.

Some astrophysics are talking about a major "dark alignment" that is happening between all planets of the solar system and the center of the milky way. A very rare celestial event. But not totally unique.

Some are saying it's the reversal of the magnetic poles of earth that is going to trigger the cataclysm. (Again, a rare event, but not completely unique), in fact, oceanic magnetic survey in the middle of the Atlantic ocean have revealed that this happens quite frequently in geological times; every four thousand years or so.

The greatest date that Windows can show is: 2099. I wonder what would happen if our civilization was lost, and someone stumbled upon a PC that showed that the end of the world is on Dec 31st 2099, would they believe it?

Perhaps we're better off not taking advice from an extinct civilization that couldn't predict its own nigh downfall. And perhaps we need to focus more on not ending life as we know it on this planet by our own recklessness and complete disregard to nature and the value of life

like ... I am the legend , and that disease :S
and only the ppl with great immunity only ppl who will survive , and then we will be like Dinosaurs and who will live at the planet next will but our skulls and bones at their museum , and say OOOooh , what is this !!... wow it seems interesting :X

I have a lot of damn science fiction things drawing in my mind !!
but to be honest they just make it silly by many of their series and films :S
on the other side I'm still forming the shape to put them out of my brain :confused:

Well ... I am not sure if I want to know or not ...

Anyway; they say that the earth or the world as we know it will change, so it is not necessarily the end ...

Maybe the earth will switch direction, or change its position or something ... so maybe it is just another act of nature like earthquakes and hurricanes .. they are mostly predictable, happen more frequently than we think and they are not unique :)

Why is this issue so big all of a sudden? How come no one talked about it when people were talking about the 1999/2000? why didn't anyone come out of the crowds and say, don't worry people, according to the Mayans, the world will end in Dec 21st of 2012, so no need to worry about the 2000 end, it is not scheduled and certainly not the end????
