Why is this blogosphere broken?

There's a major issue plaguing the blogosphere anyway you wish to look at it. We feel it, but defining it might not be that easy.

People who truly state their minds are brushed away as eccentrics. Or as my liberal next door neighbor would say, It's democracy in its finest glory.

That crap about opposites is completely rubbish. It works only for Electricity and Magnetism. On the blogosphere (or the real world), people of similar beliefs and perspectives that stick together. Where else could you see it better than the glorious narrow versioned Arab internet?

Just as we appear to have blindfolds towards our social issues, we are exactly the same online. If someone has an idea it's the ultimate truth and no one else has a clue (unless you're a member of that clan) You're a moron, backward and stupid.

On the other hands, there appears to be a bunch of sites that have monopolized "best", "greatest"! This amazing fascination of Arabs with superlatives boggles me. Just listen to the "First" radio station out there. A title claimed by EVERY radio station and her mother. I bet it's deeply rooted in our culture.

The problem with "Best" is that it's one of those black-or-white terms. In other words, if you say a group of people are "the best" you have immediately branded everyone else as being losers! That word has that that tyrannical nature. You're either among the "best" or you're riffraff or as we proudly say in Jordan "7afartali" or as our always creative brothers in Egypt say, "Bee2a"

The thing is, on any creative front like, but not limited to, blogging, there is no "bee2a" and "Elite" in fact, anyone who thinks of themselves as the elites of such a medium are sadly delusional.

What worries me about this cut-throat competition is that it's not in the best interest of anyone! We're ALL losing! We're all wasting our resources and this bickering is taking us more backward. While the issues are STILL there with no end in sight.

So what do people want? Opposition to just roll off and die? Would that make people happy?

It's a well known fact, people don't get along. People don't always respect each other, or other's ideas or even existence. But so what!? The same diversity that divides us is our greatest strength if used properly.

But what irks me is that there are certain people who go out of their way to be mean to each other. Out of their way to undermine other people's hard work and pay particular attention to supporting their competition.

I would be in for rude awakening if I thought that this world is going to change with an article... I'm not that optimistic about it.

I totally agree.  If you disagree with a blog or anything else move on, there are others who might enjoy it.  Claiming that your beliefs are the only right ones is just arrogant.

It's like the US presidential campaign :)

Best is actually a relative term to the person who says it. Like the saying goes "what's best for you isn't always the best for me". Because we're different individual with different experiences.

Well I can’t really be the judge of all that, as I've been only introduced to the blogosphere world for a short period of 3 months... But so far not much blogs have opinions that totally break stereotype or go against all odds. Perhaps it's just like what you said. People must be holding back or are too afraid of standing out and after all conformity is a convenience!!
Recently I posted a comment on a blog post that expressed the completely opposite point of view than the main post. The blogger got upset, and implied the comment was off topic, and ended with the generic "not on my blog" phrase.

I took them off my blogroll, and won't be visiting their blog again. Not because I don't enjoy their posts, but if they don't even want the other side of the argument to be heard to begin with, why bother turning comments on ? Just for the (yes I agree) boring responses ?

It's bad enough that many of us are too cowardly to speak their own mind that we should squelch our readers as well.
