Rated 4.4/5 stars (204 votes cast) Thanks for your vote!

As promised, I went to see this movie tonight. But first I had to hit the Persian restaurant for some comforting Barg and Ghoarmeh Sabzi.... Yummmm!

    darkly

3.0/10 on the Qwaider scale. Put me to sleep!

The movie in a nutshell is about this officer who is sent to collect information about some drug dealers (Dealing a narcotic called Substance-D) And he ends up addicted befriending the folks he's trying to capture yad yada yada

This is one hard core sci-fi flick. Way too hardcore for the main stream. For my taste (and I'm a hardcore sci-fi dude) it felt less than developed and lacking on many fronts

True graphically it's impressive, and gives you that hallucinogenic effect with it's cartoon-like characters. But that soon fades away at the dryness of the story. It felt longer that it really is with so much left to be desired.

The movie failed on several fronts but most importantly the director failed to mold the abstract story into an appealing movie that would keep you attracted and entertained. What's worse is that he preserved the abstractness of the story. While being true to the story, he failed to be true to the sole of the story

It reminds me of classical Asimov stories like "I Robot" which for many years was dry, conceptual, abstract story. But when it was reshaped to fit the big-screen it came out spectacular. With mini plots and side quests and mini-stories to fill the big motion picture

Anyway, if you're an Asimov -die-hard-sci-fi dude, you might like this one. But for the majority of the folks, this one can pass unnoticed and would not even be missed

The highlight of my night was the Persian restaurant I pigged out at before the movie. Caspian. This is (in my humble opinion) is the best Persian place in Washington state. True there are others, there are ones that offer more. But this is the only one that is extremely consistent in everything they do. The Barg tasted EXACTLY like it normally does. The Kabob, the Ghormeh Sabzi .. Everything is consistently good. Not Great, but at least I know what I'm getting. Compared to other places who are fantastic at times and horrible at others

Anyway, I have enough left overs to last me till tomorrow ;-) Horray!

Oh and one good thing happened. A nice lady handed me a back bracelet with the word "DOOM" written on it... looks awesome!
