I'm not sure if it's my style or my attitude, but what I'm certain of is that there's usually a good point that I am making. So even if you hate me. Try to see the point I'm trying to make
Remember these words:
By the way, the issues don't stop at blogrush, other widgets like MyBlogLog, Amazon shopping/wish list, Facebook widgets, and many others all suffer from the same issues; here's a list of them:
- Security
These widgets have access to everything you run on your site, and every ONE who access it. They have the option to explode pop-ups in visitor's faces or redirect them to pornographic sites. This was the case with WebStats4U (read my article about them here)
- Privacy
Exposing your patterns, user patters and many other information. These widgest can, (and often will) story this information and be able to track the user across all the sites that have their widgets. Pretty scary if you ask me
- Performance
The performance is your whole site will be dependant on the performance of this widget, the page will not be done loading until the widget is done loading. A badly designed widget might take too long, and download too much to the user's widow that it might cause them to lose interest in your site and leave
- Visual skinnability
The way these widgets look is usually very hard to modify
- Compatibility
They don't work in all browsers
Memories....
Sigh
Fine

Here you go hun!
*feeds Q's ego*
see! you're the best!
*pats Q on his head*
Sorry, not fool... and no it isn't my subconscious :P
Please don't hack my site :(
Thanks for the unnecessary ego boost!
I used to have some widgets on my blog when I first started but then when I did read your many posts on privacy I thought that I really don't know what the heck those javascripts are doing on my site!
So I removed them :)
Yeah, I do listen ;) You just don't notice :P
I like having QP RSS on my sidebar coz it's easier than Google Reader and I always get some interesting title from someone at any given time.
the movie widget thingie looks horrible though especially on firefox! Time to get decor tips from Maioush :)
I'm thinking of a micro-blog next. What do you think? I haven't been that big on updating my status or what I'm doing, or working on. I guess that's why I don't have a Twitter or Watweter ...
But should I build one?
I never understood the need, or attraction to twitter and watwet and what not, but then again when I plan on going out, I call someone and agree with them where/when to go directly as opposed to checking twitter to see who went where to do what, and join them. It just seems awkward and intrusive!
it comes pretty loaded with RSS feed, and some even allow people to comment, reply and link to their tweets some even allow MP3 embedding and stuff like that
I still don't see the point though. I might just end up doing it just for the heck of it, bug I still can't put my finger on the "allure" factor
