Apple users can finally rejoice! Netflix video streaming is finally available for Mac. But only Intel Based Macs (not older powerBooks)

That's fantastic news of course, but that's not why I would bother writing a post. There has to be some irony in this, ehm .. ready?

You can ONLY use this if you're using Microsoft Silverlight! The Adobe Flash competitor that was used most during the Olympics (because it complies DRM)

LOS GATOS, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX), the world's largest online movie rental service, today announced it has begun the deployment of Microsoft Silverlight to enhance the instant watching component of the Netflix service and to allow subscribers for the first time to watch movies and TV episodes instantly on their Intel-based Apple Macintosh computers. The deployment, which will initially touch a small percentage of new Netflix subscribers, is the first step in an anticipated roll-out of the new platform to all Netflix subscribers by the end of the year

I just can't stop myself from laughing! I wish I can see the next "I'm a Mac", "and I'm a PC. And you can't watch Netflix without my technology"

Anyway, just remember not to spend too much on your next Blu-ray or DVD player as they might become useless in couple of years

Fortunately for us Mac users, Microsoft Silverlight is a painless, invisible browser plug-in. :) As for the dilemma, Apple is trying to push their video options via iTunes, of course, but Netflix is a far better deal for me. Before this solution popped up, the only other option was to either dual boot Windows on a Mac using Boot Camp or run Windows via Parallels or Fusion. I like the idea of Silverlight better.

Sounds exciting Dave. As I said in the past, my loyalty is always to the superior technology and not to a specific company. That's why I'm always trying to stay away from hypes
I'm really happy it's working for you.. It's sad to see something like Silverlight rain on Flash's parade, I personally love Flash, but that's life
