Muslims everywhere know and understand that they're the target of a relentless campaign to undermine them and their religion. It doesn't matter if you believed the conspiracy theory or not, many would conclude that there are many challenges that face the whole nation of Islam worldwide and the only way around that is for Muslims to unite and join forces to meet these challenges.

Sadly, we've been plagued with many ideas that forces us to split even further...

From the dawn of the Islamic State (Aka Khalifate) there were many conflicts. Some were trivial and were extinguished over the ages. But none was more painful or had greater effect than the Sunni-Shiite conflict.

And today, the flame is passed to another "scholar" who vows to protect Sunna and to expose Shiite by declaring them heretics and later on going back on it. In an attempt to cool the situation down. But, the damage has already been done

Either way, this is just one scholar who should represent only himself, and no one else! Because of his unpopular conclusions that Shiites are taking over. He's about to make the nation face a new rising threat! Another major all-out-war between the two major branches of Islam. Sadly though, the news of him "eating" his words, didn't even make it to the mainstream media, and chances are, it won't.

First of all, I'm one of the Muslims who don't believe in branding Muslims. Shiites, Sunnies and what have you is all wrong. All Muslims are the same, Muslims! Now, some don't agree with other's ideas or opinions, now that's a different matter. But they all remain Muslims!

Second, when there is a "Shiite tide" that is forcing it's way across the Islamic countries. We need to stop and think. Or mainly answer one question: "Why do we have a rise in popularity of the Shiite branch?". The answer is really simple. They are doing, what other people are talking (or only dreaming) of doing. That's what makes people adore them. That's what makes people want to know more about them. Just like people adore Che Guevara. Who knows, he might be a Shiite too

Third, in the outreaching humanitarian projects, it's not the Shiite fault that people (or even Muslims) in developing countries are following them. It's the delinquency of the Sunni wealth to actually make something out of it, other than mile long towers and more cities in the ocean. When someone gets a higher score, it's not his fault. It's our delinquencies

Finally, when the Shiites reach out for law makers and special interest groups in the US, this isn't something really against them. In fact, that's something EVERYONE on the face of this planet is trying to do. So why blame Shiites for being just like everyone else? We might as well blame them for being human and breathing!

The spark of this fire was ignited 1400 years ago because of injustice. Injustice inflicted on ALL Muslims by their ruler. It would be a shame if we continue this injustice the way we are right now. It would be a shame if the brothers are once again torn apart with intent to burn each other alive. It would be a disaster for the whole Islamic nation if we continue this in-house bigotry, instead of lifting the oppression we're getting from the outside

And for someone like a respected scholar, you would expect all of that to be quite clear! You would expect him to "weight" every word he says before broadcasting it and putting it on record for Memri TV and other sources to take, manipulate and take out of context!

So Mr Qaradawi, isn't it about time we started thinking of the big picture and the future of all Muslims? Instead of retaliating with another Fitna to fragment this nation once again?

    Memories....

It bugs me when scholars leave real issues and real problems that need solving and dealing with and focusing on things that cause fitna and have no possible useful outcome.
They are not in a position to speak on my behlaf, but the sad reality is that people empower those nut jobs, and they empower them by accepting their nonsence which they assume is from god. Defeatism, laziness, and ignorance is when you delegate the thinking and the decision making processes of things that are so central in your life to others who claim power by "knowledge" and sanctity through relegion.

And stop calling them scholars, a scholar in this day and age has to be specialized.

Allow me to rephrase that to express my view.
I'm one of the humans who don't believe in branding other humans. Muslim, Christian, Jew, Atheist, Buddhist, and what you have is all wrong. All humans are the same, human beings regardless of their beliefs and/or superstitions.

Somehow, I think this is compatible with your statement at a larger scale!
