Apparently, Microsoft is on the band wagon for the elections showcasing the highly anticipated Surface. Not only is it cool, but placing it in people's faces throughout the elections might be the first smart advertising step Microsoft does in many years.

Apparently, Surface is coming, and for the first time being displayed outside of the experimental or promotional arena, this time it's being used to track the elections on MSNBC.

Awesome yes, but too expensive for most home users. Even the whole home-pc put a pc in your living room concept didn't wash with the none-geek crowd.

This thing is not supposed to be more expensive than the average laptop. In fact, the average laptop of 2009/2010 will have multi touch capabilities as well..
So it's really not that far fetched

I know this can be classified as rumor until it's actually on sale, but when I wrote that comment, the last surface review I read had said $5000. A more recent one from softepdia (7-Aug-2008) says $12500-15000. If this is true, it is way out of range for home users. Maybe for corporate use...
