Yes, you heard that right! Google's long rumoured phone is coming to T-MOBILE! A phone that I will most likely be the first in line to get.

The FCC has finally cleared(pdf) the gadget for November 10th release.

Android is not only a mobile phone architecture as many thought, it's actually an architecture that you will soon see in PDAs, MP3 players and set-top-smart-gadgets.

HTC Dream Google Android from T-Mobile

The phone is made by HTC, which has historically been making Windows Mobile phones. But apparently had a change of heart after most of their phones were met with very little success despite the huge amount of effort they poured into them.

The phone is boasts 3G, Fast Internet (although ironically, T-Mobile, is one of the last wireless providers to get in the 3G market in the US)

Google's approach is open-source, community driven where competition is driving the creation of new and wonderful new applications for the new platform which faces competition from Microsoft's Windows Mobile, Apple's iPhone, LiMo (new Linux based Mobile architecture), REM Blackberry and the very established Symbian operating systems

What is certain is that the next couple of years are going to face a huge competition for the hearts, minds and bucks of Mobile consumers. Competition that will benefit the consumers more than anyone else.

The day and age of the less than $100 smartphone is upon us! People like me are going to cry for the thousands of $$$ they spent on crappy old smartphones that barely worked, most of the time!

Here's a cool video showing the new phone

My personal projection for the future is that smart Phones are going to be like PCs, the hardware will be similar or compatible with each other while the user will have the freedom of installing whatever software they like to use.

    Memories....

Good I think since the iphone, there hasn't been any notable response from any of the other companies. All Nokia could do is take their N95 design and add a few GB of memory ?!!! What the heck has their R&D been doing all this time ?

    Let the games begin!
I am so happy that the first Android phone will be rolled out. This is so cool. I'm also sad that i can't afford to buy it since i already have the iPhone :-(

Hey Qwaider, i've never had a smart phone before (this is only my second mobile phone in 6 years) .. i've noticed that the applications on my iPhone often crash or freeze. Is that usual in other smart phones ? It is really annoying because sometimes the phone will stay frozen on an application for 2.5 minutes and then restart itself to resolve the issue. Do other smart phones crash and/or freeze often ?

Ah, this is the biggest thing i miss about my old "dumb" phone .. it was too dumb to crash .. so it was always running fast and responsively :-)

Indeed! :) Let the games begin. Nokia has been watching from the sidelines and content with their work on the communicator series and Internet tablets. Which have been nothing but a major disappointment for users. Lets see what they will come back with.
The responses have been marginal really, mainly LG, Samsung and LG combated the threat of iPhone with something that is actually comparable!

Yep, Dumb phones are WAAAAY more reliable than smart phones. I say that with a lot of frustration since there is no price that can be placed on the hours of lost productivity wasted on sub alpha quality applications. It doesn't matter who the manufacturer or the vendor is. Your experience is very much the same as everyone else who wield a smartphone

I never used them smarties! Hideous, restarts, wiping out memory! All I need is SMS and ability to make a friggin phone call!
I bet you that you won't be able to "not" use them in the future!
