Psssst! Do you want to stay in touch with your loved ones anywhere in the world and pay only $9.99 for ALL you can eat long-distance calling? Do you want to call your family back "home" and spend 6 or 7 hours talking to them to your heart's content? Do you want to go "home" and have free unlimited calling to the US without paying a single cent in roaming charges?

Say hello to my new friend....

    Tmobile@home

T-Mobile's Hotspot@home is certainly a crowd pleaser. Free UNLIMITED calls within the continental US? Free Tmobile-to-tmobile (from my cellphone to "call home") all for $9.99 a month!!? I bet most people IN JORDAN pay MORE to use thier Jordanian phones to call other people in Jordan

But that's not everything that this little beauty does!

It has a built in Wireless hotspot capability, which means, you can use certain T-Mobile phones and use them to call over Wi-FI instead of GSM network. But what does all this mumbo jumbo means in English? It means, UNLIMITED CALLING when you're close to this device, with a minor side effect; "ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD"

All you need is a high-speed Internet connection(again, anywhere in the world), and presto! You're making unlimited calls to the US! People on Tmobile can make unlimited calls to you for free to you and to them. And when you go to "home" you bring your phone with you and call to your heart's content without paying roaming. Without even paying for the extra minutes!

Now that's kinda big deal! Mine is half the way around the world right now on it's way to my folks house in Jordan to replace the old VoIP phone over there. Not only is it less expensive to own, and operate. But it uses LESS bandwidth. Which means; they can be on the phone, and surfing the Internet at the same time without feeling it. Now that's AWESOME!

Chances are, I'm going to switch my home service for this thing too, and very soon. The coolest thing is that I can take my HOME PHONE with me, ANYWHERE I go! Work, on the road, in a hotel, or even when I'm travelling home, just plug it to the Internet and ... my home phone is there ... :) HOW COOL IS THAT!!!?

But it gets EVEN BETTER!! (yes, trust me)...Lets say you're like me, you have a Tmobile@home service here in the US. Your folks (like mine) live in Jordan. You sent them a Tmobile-@home and you go to visit them. Instead of taking the whole wireless router with you, you just take your SIM, plug it into the SECOND SIM card slot and now you have LINE2. I mean, You can have up to TWO lines on this thing. So travel, take your SIM with you and viola! You've got your US HOME PHONE with you while you visit your folks just by taking the tiny 2 gram SIM! This is tooo good to be true! But IT IS!!! That's why I'm SOOOOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!

    Go T-MO!

it sounds as if u are getting a free one for putting this advertisement...are you???
:( I wish. But it's really not that expensive to get this device, it's only $51!
I should get a free one!
I personally am a fan of Skype phones .. you pay for them once, and that is it ... you talk for hours and hours and you don't pay any cent :-)
    But...
    1) they use more bandwidth,
    2) You lose your minutes if you call from cellphone
    3) you can't have a decent phone number
    4) you can't roam
    5) The reliability is questionable
    6) It doesn't come with a wireless AP :)
Now, with all of that said, this is only while comparing it with UMA (Tmobile@home) otherwise, Skype is good! I like it .. But this is a notch better. Although Skype offers international long distance and t-mo doesn't (yet)
yeah i guess it's great, but how am I going to own one :( ???
If you have a cousin or a relative who lives in the US, they can add it to their line
But why do you need one? You live in Jordan right?

now what does that mean in english...
what do i need to get this "too good to be true" to work for me, since i pay alot for long distance calls...alot!!! i have tmbile cell but not home yet, but willing to switch if it will save money....

a friend of mine told me that he got his mom in egypt a vonage, and left it with her, and now he pays like nothing for the service and talks to his mom for hours...

    now i am jealous....plzzzzzzz
Since you already have Tmobile service, then all you need is grab one of these from their store, and sign up for the new service ($9.99)
If you leave it in your house here, you can call anywhere in the US for free
If you take it back to your place in Jordan, you can still call everyone in the US for free :). And everyone in the US can still call you for free.

You can even transfer your home phone number to them, and have the same number with them

    Let me define "Free" here.
    1) You need high-speed Internet
    2) You need to have a $39.99 plan with Tmobile BEFORE you can sign up

Where [in the world] you plug this, doesn't really matter as long as there is Internet connection

i c, but that means that i have to have internet connection in amman?? right?? and would a dialup do the job, or a faster one is needed??? as i recall we donot even have a phone line there, i mean we have connection, but discontinued the service...but willing to connect again if so, and how much is that gonna be...have no clue??

yeah, my plan with them is $59.99, not $39.99...so would that still work??

i should dig into it...as i recall i had an offer for it, but never looked at it...
You will need to have high-speed Internet connection for this to work for you. So cable, DSL will provide you with that.
Any plan above $39.99 will do the trick

If you have an offer, you might get it for even less that what I stated above. I would take advantage of that if I were you.

ok, then, i will wait for ur family to install it and see if it goes through customs first....
and i will have to ask sis to check how much it would cost to install a dsl in the house...i have no clue...
now i pay an average of $80 worth calls to jordan...
so keep us posted once u have this running from amman...i will be waiting...
thanx for the tips, dear...as for the offer, i trashed it...
Hmm, I don't really know about t-mobile. There was once an offer of unlimited 3G in London for about 10 pounds a month. Thing was, somethings like Skype VoIP didn't work on it. You should read the fair usage policy for this gadget/contract. They always have things hidden in those offers.
Welcome to the world of VOIP man, I guess there are rates of 1 cent per minutes to USA from anyway in the world just using your computer. And to hell with T-mobile :D

This is your first blog post where I understood absolutely nothing O_O I think I have ADHD
Although I'm stuck with the Vonage routers and plans ($15-$24). I use them both at work, and to reach family in US and Ramallah. I just hope Orange doesn't figure it out and start blocking VOIP as they used to block other forms of internet telephony in the past.

Have u ever heared of MagicJack?
its a USB cable, that u connect to any pc, and and connect it to any phone  and u'll be ready to call anywhere in ths states or canada for only $19.99/YEAR! yes per year, not month! :)
we used it at home, its very good, sometimes it disconnects, but all u have to do is unplug/ plug it in again.

    www.magicjack.com
but you need a full PC to use it!
That's not practical. In addition, if I call this magicjack device from my cell phone I will use up my minutes. Whereas in Tombile@home's case it uses no minutes at all (from the receiver) if they are on Tmobile network (which I am)
Besides, I would take the reliability of Tmobile over a company I've never heard of before any day.

So really thank you for the tip, but, Sorry, but I think I'm sticking with tmobile @home, because my folks can't use the alternative, nor are they willing to leave a PC open 24/7
